Yes, the lyrics are wonderful. One line stands etched in my memory ----
"... thaaney uridaru deepavu manege beLaka tharuvudu... deepaaa beLaka
tharuvudu ..."
The music by G.K. Venkatesh captures the mood beautifully. Equally lovely
(and also very touching) is the slow version of the song ("AaDisidaatha besara
mooDi AaTa mugisidaa... ", sung by G.K. Venkatesh).

"There is no use merely saying, 'Oh! We have a great culture.'
What do we know of it? How do we practise it? Do we look at our life
as an offering to society? Do we feel that we should not merely run
after pelf and power but should hold aloft virtues in life?..."
Music: Rajan Nagendhra (100% sure)
Lyric: R.N. Jayagopal? or is it Udhaya Shankar? Definitely one of them!!
Lovely song by SPB. Infact I like "kannu kannu ondhayithu", "cheluveya
andhadha mogake" also (from the same movie)

Hi
Let me compile my favorite (top 10) SPB solo film songs in
Kannada (may not be in the same order) when I am humming Mamaravello....
1) Radhike ninna sarasavidheney - Thandhey makkaLu
2) Shubhashaya - Madhuveya ee bandha - Seetha
3) Neera bittu neladha mele - Hombhisilu
4) Mamavaravello - devara Gudi
5) Aaseya bhava olavina jeeva - Mangalya bhagya
6) Arpane ninage arpane - Dasari Narayana Rao film OR Yuga yugagaLe sagali
nanna prema shashwatha - Hrudhaya Geethey
7) Nammura mandhara hoove - Aalemane
8) Thera yeri ambara_dhage - Parasangadha Gende thimma
9) Thari kerey yeri mele - Dhevara dhuddu
10) Ninna neenu maretharenu sukhavidhey - Dhevara kannu
Surprisingly I can't think of good SPB songs in LATE 80s or 90s. I think I
have missed few VERY good songs from early 80s. But I can't
spend time thinking on this! Can someone throw light on this?

I don't believe in astrology. But then I'm a Sagitarian, and Sagitarians
don't believe in astrology.
Yes. An exact parallel, in fact. The Hindi film "Poonam" starring
Poonam Dhillon as the heroine, was released in Poonam cinema house
(now PuTTaNNa KaNagal Chitramandira) in Jayanagar 4th Block, Bangalore.
However, while "Swapna" also had a song with the title appearing in
it, I don't remember "Poonam" having a similar song.
But, I have a question here. Is there a cinema theatre called "Swapna"
^
in Bangalore ? To the best of my knowledge, it is called "Sapna"
(and is located behind Santosh theater and to the side of (or below?)
Nartaki theater).

I take this song to my list!
> 5. Beeda namba beda Jeeva hodaru (Aparadhi yaaru)
The film is just Aparadhi (Aparadhi is Balakrishna in the movie)
> 6. Snehada kadalalli (Shubhamangala)
Hey sanjeev, this should be in my list!

Some of the other L.R. Eshwari songs that come to my mind :
1. "Jokay... naanu baLLiya minchu, kaNNu katthiya anchu..."
2. "Dooradinda bandantha sundaranga jaaNa..."
I don't remember the names of the movies.
I am not sure if the song "... baaji kaTTi noDu baara meesey
mAma..." from "Sipayi Ramu" is sung by L.R. Eshwari. And who
is the male singer in this song? SPB?

Hi Punith/Rajesh,
I remeber the Blue Boys they use to get very popular during Ganesh
festival time. Pardon me for this if, I remember right I think Ramesh use to play
the guitar for the Blue Boys. My friend and I use to take lessons from him, But what
I heard last was that when the Blue Boys were returning to
B'lore after performing out station their Metador was involved in an accident and
unfortunately Ramesh was fatally wounded. This was a few years ago and I heard no way
of confirming it. Hope I'm wrong.
Tnx,
Thyagu

Unfortunately this is true. I was one of Ramesh's students, and
remember receiving with disbelief the news of his accident. It was a
really saddening experience. We often went to his house after that, to
talk to his folks, and they always felt happy to see his students. My
guitar playing defenitely took a downward spin after that though :(.
Even though we played in the intercollegiate festivals, I never learnt
any new things, and am reduced to playing the same tunes over and
over, when I get the time!
