Daily Times of Pakistan reported on October 18, 2004 that Hong Kong's
football chief fired an angry broadside at Asian Football
Confederation General-Secretary Peter Velappan after Peter made the
comment before Hong Kong's qualifier clash with China in Guangzhou on
November 17. Peter said if there was any "funny business, they will
face the music."

Peter made the warning after Oriental Sports Daily urged the Hong Kong
team to be gracious and give the motherland the game. After China was
defeated by Kuwait, China has to win over Hong Kong by a wide margin
to advance.

HKFA Chairman Martin Hong wrote a letter which said Velappan's
comments would "damage the image and reputation of the HKFA and
tarnish the image of the coaches and players who have worked so hard
during the tournament."

in the Asian zone.
