Interesting observation, about it not being a "hate crime."
That only reminds me how screwed up we are regarding our
politically-correct laws. OF COURSE it is a "hate crime,"
in every sense but (perhaps, since I don't know the details)
the legalistic. In fact, most, if not all, crimes of violence
are produced by hatred. That is why I think all the
"hate crime" legislation is misguided. And as far as
counselischool ng sessions to prevent bullying, I doubt
that will change anything. After all, every human
society I am aware of uses bullying to make the
wheels go round. The boss bullies the employee,
the bureaucrat bullies the "little person" who needs
something, the policeman bullies the out-of-line
party, the bill collector bullies the debtor, the
teacher bullies the student., etc. (But nowadays some
of this bullying is done in a phony, sugar-coated
fashion, in tune with the times). People in positions
of power can be nicy-nice to subordinates and
"inferiors," but it is really behind it? Bullying. I doubt
that there has ever been a society larger than maybe a
couple of hundred people where bullying was not used
as the glue making things hold together. So, do like
everyone else: Live with it or bully back.
