Well, Bruce and I are progressing even more toward deciding
to go to Otakon in Baltimore this August. It's the second
largest anime convention in the country.

Why I want to go to that one instead of the largest one...
Lots of people I've been getting to know on-line will be
there. I wouldn't mind meeting them. I can go bankrupt in
the dealers' room. ;) If I wind up bored out of my mind,
they have 7 anime theatres so I reckon I could find
something to watch.

It doesn't hurt that my #1 favourite seiyuu will be there,
and this'll be his first time at a US convention. I figure
if I can hear him say "monkey" like Mikagami, laugh like
Schuldich, and maybe even throw in a "Fukaku. Motto
fukaku." like Mikage, I'll finally be forced to realize
that all of this does indeed come out of the mouth of
this guy who looks nothing like these characters and the
magic will be destroyed for me. ;)

Bruce checked into about how much the airplane tickets would
cost, and it's not too frightening. I'll be checking soon
to make sure there are no scary conflicts that would leave
the kids in our hands. And then I guess we'll need to
leap or decide not to do it. If we're gonna do it, we
MUST get our hotel arrangements taken care of ASAP.

I haven't been out of this state in so many years now.
Escape for a few days wouldn't be a bad thing.

And it should be a lot of fun. Not to mention a novelty
to go to a convention with absolutely NO responsibilities.
Work those kinks out of my system before DE. ;)

Dunno yet how many notable Japanese GoHs will be there
besides Midorikawa Hikaru. The only other one I'm certain
of is character designer for Cowboy Bebop. But they'll
probably announce others between now and August.

And I can see Maryland again, where I lived for a little
while. Gosh, how exciting. ;)

The only thing I'm worried about it how stupid I'll look
if I don't flippin' feel like bothering with cosplay because
I'm a lazy asshole. Not that I wouldn't want the excuse to
cross-dress myself and Bruce ONCE, maybe, but beyond that
I'd probably be more willing to tell the costumed masses
to fork themselves. But there are others who don't do
it there, so I won't be alone.

I play with fire because the shimmering flames make everything look
so beautiful around them. And these same flames inevitably lash out
to burn me, to leave me wailing in pain. Then they dance shyly away
and become beautiful once again so I blissfully resume my playing.
