Pardon me folks, but didn't anyone in Ak. think about drilling an oil
well or two for the people of Alaska? Why isn't all fuel free?? Who gave
the oil to Britain? Anyone ever study Denmark or any other country that
gives serious subsidies back to the people?? Howcum gas is cheaper in
the lower 48?? Must be the transportation cost ehhh...Why not drill your
own wells and build a refinery instead of settling for pennies on the
dollar? Oops, make that pennies per hundred dollars...my high school age
daughter did a bit of math for a civics class on oil...Can YOU

Nay: The oil is refined here.

Did your daughter take a class in politics and colonization. The colonized (
Alaska ) provide a place for the colonizers ( U.S.) to sell their products
and get raw materials.

Ok, Webber. Pay close attention and I'll try to present it so you can
understand. Try to remember that this is ALASKA, not NY or anywhere
else.

There are 2 refineries in Alaska, one near North Pole and one near
Kenai. Fuel is not free for the same reason that almost nothing else is
free: It costs money to produce. Do you gather, grow, or kill your own
food? (I know you don't). If you could, would it be free? What skills
have you relating to oil production? Ahhhh.

Gosh, you're sooo smart.

Not only that, but the unions have it fixed so the gas HAS to be trucked
TO Anchorage, then disbursed. So, the reason fuel is MORE in Kenai,
Slow-dotna, etc, is the agreement ol' Jess Carr and the boys hammered
out years ago, requiring retail gas to be shipped FROM A PORT, and Los
Anchorage was the only port in the area. If I'm not mistaken, even
tho' Mapco is located in North Pole, Fairbush is not, lately, considered
a Port, so, the fuel may have to be Anchorage centered??? Whatever the
case, the South-Central fuel HAS to be shipped to a PORT, then disbursed,
even if you are buying from Tesoro out on the North Road, right next to
the Tesoro plant.

So it's back to the Government and their political bedmates, the Unions,
with their restrictive and heavy-handed self-serving opression of the
People.

Perhaps a better question would be "Why do Alaskans put up with abuse by
the Government/Unions". Or, "Why do Alaskans allow the Federal
Government to steal 90% of 'Our' oil?". I am confident that other
questions could be raised.

Citizens! Wake Up! Join together with your neighbors and countrymen to
fight the Oppressors!

Fuel from North Pole is sent down from North Pole to Anchorage and then
back to Fairbanks? Via train I assume? Sorry, but I'm from Missouri on
that one. It raises an interesting question though. Where does the
gasoline used in Alaskan cities come from?
The North Pole refinery ties into the Fairbanks-Eielson pipeline, but I
have always assumed that was diesel or JP-8 for the military. I would
think fuel from North Pole is trucked to Fairbanks (15 miles?).

I've seen tanker cars on the train coming into Anchorage from up north.
Is this refined gasoline from North Pole?

I don't believe the military has been using the Whittier-Anchorage
pipeline for a few years. Is JP-8 coming from Kenai or Fairbanks?

Yep.
Got 2 wells right here in my back yard.
Don't need a refinery 'cause AK crude is so fine that it meets auto
requirements without refining....
Me and all my neighbors ain't bought gas since ol' J. Paul Getty showed
me how to drill for oil (pronounced awl by Mr. Getty)....
