Has anyone run across this little known movie? I've been trying to find a
place to rent it in Ontario. Forget finding any place to buy it! Video
stores that used to have a copy seem to have chucked their copies when
they were damaged and never re-stocked.

Thanks. M. Vrzoc

I was able to pick up a copy at Suncoast Motion Picture Company last
year. I knew USA Up All Night shows it about every six months, mostly
uncut except for the commercials. That might do in a pinch until you
can snag a pre recorded copy.

Night of the Comet is probably my favorite cult movie. Funny, funky,
zombies, rad sisters and the end of the world, what more can you ask for?
There's a movie I'd like to see remade! With CGI and a bigger budget
you could really explore the landscape of the end of the world and have
more surprises.

I've been looking for a LBX laserdisc but as far as I know none exists,
even though there is an audience for the movie. Too bad Catherine Mary
Stewart and Kelli Maroney could never team up for more B-movies, that
would have been a cool industry.

I love this movie too. Robert Beltran (Chakotay on Voyager) played
Hector. I think he'd just as soon not be remembered for this movie,
although I don't see why not. :-}

Cool soundtrack too...

Hmm..is this the movie I think it is--about two sisters (the brunette
one looked kinda like Brooke Shields) who survive a comet shower which
kills (almost) everybody on earth, there was something about a bunch
of evil scientist-types, with two people I saw on Eating Raoul...?

I've seen it for sale in Suncoast. No idea of the quality of the video.

Yeah, I saw that movie - It's actually a pretty good B sci-fi flick.
That blond girl was also in 'Chopping Mall' - She's a good screamer!

Night of the Comet is in print in an NTSC VHS EP pan and scan
version for $6.95US or so.
Where I am the Walmart, a general interest type of store that
sells some everything you can possibly imagine, carries it. I
keep meaning to pick it up myself...

The cable network USA does cut the shower scene, which was
pretty innocuous anyway.

So If you can live with an EP print, your local retailer may be
able to get one for you.

Loved this little movie. By the way, same director, THOM EBERHARDT
directed WITHOUR A CLUE and CAPTAIN RON.

Ontario's a pretty big place. Are you willing to drive to Thunder Bay or
Cornwall, for the video?

If you happen to be in the Greater Toronto Area you may want to check out
SUSPECT VIDEO, (Call LUV-MORG or e-mail them at sus...@interlog.com). They have
a pretty large selection of cult and foreign movies. SUSPECT video is located at
on Markham St, which is just around the corner from Honest Ed's at Bathurst and
Bloor.

They are very helpful and if they don't have it they can't certainly tell you
who has.

I liked those movies, too. Didn't realize it was the same director.
What I really liked about Night of the Comet was that I was prepared to
hate it, thought it would be one those stupid Boobs and Beasts kind of
teen flick. I had a great time, it was fun, looked good and even had a
plot.

And, there's that perrenial favorite: "If bachelorette number 2 isn't
up here in half a tick, I'm going to ice bachelorette number 1." Best
mall scenes since "Dawn of the Dead."

I loved this movie also. My father took me to see it (I suppose it
was because of the astronomical tie-in) and I was really surprised
that I liked it.

Of course I always found end of the world movies fascinating. Another
one my father took me to, The Quiet Earth, I would also recommend.

Captain Ron was funny as hell. The only movie where Martin Short is
actually funny IMO.

I must have seen that movie a hundred times on HBO. What a stupid
concept! But I guess it was pretty interesting as cult-film.

I love this movie for the ending. Sure, it's got a cheerleader
shotting a machine gun: "Daddy would have bought us Uzis", she
pouts. Theres an unbriddled spirit of optimism that I really
approve of. And the movie says something about the vitality
of women and teenagers who just refuse to let the world die.

It's a happy thought.

I beg to differ. The movie is a satire. Day of the Treffids
meets Night of the Living Dead.

In fact, the paralells fo Day of the Dreffids must have been
intentional. In one movie, watching the meteor shower causes
blindness -- in the other, it just turns people to dust.

This movie is one of my favorite junk films. The two actresses are
Kelli Maroney (also featured in the movie "Chopping Mall" and the
remake of "Not of This Earth") and Catherine Mary Stewart (also in
"The Last Starfighter", "Weekend at Bernie's" and "Nightflyers"). It
is a satire. In the early scenes at the movie house just before CMS
encounters her first zombie, the movie poster on the wall is for the
Clark Gable movie "Red Dust", which you quickly find out almost
everybody in the world has become. It also has Mary Woronov (from
"Eating Raoul" and hundreds of other films, a very sexy lady), Robert
Beltran (also from "Eating Raoul" and "Star Trek: Voyager") and
Geoffrey Lewis (a great character actor and father of Juliette). If
you haven't seen it, give it a try.
