"Medicine Man" (Sean Connery) was filmed in Quintanna Roo (or maybe
Chiapas???) but it was supposed to be the Amazon.
A practically unknown film that was filmed in Chiapas is "Chac: the Rain
God." (1974: Rolondo Klein). An incredible film - I think it might be
the only film ever made where an Indian language, Tzeltal Maya, was the
only language spoken. There are no references to Europe or European
culture in the film. Puro Indio, as they say. Check out:

I just watched "Amorosos Perros" (Love's a Bitch) the other day. Mexico
City. But are Mexican films going to be on your list? If so, you need
to add "Cabeza de Vaca" (1991: Nicolas Echevarria) and "Macario" (1960:
Roberto Gavaldon) to your list. Both classics.
