I watched BLUE VELVET in a deserted, full-sized theater. It was at a 5pm
matinee. At first there was this sensibly dressed mid-thirtyish couple,
obviously in the intermediate stages of dating and obviously unwitting of what
the film was about, sitting several rows in front of me, who stuck it out until
the entrance of Frank Booth--"Where's my bourbon?...Let me see it...Mommy!
Mommy!" At which time they decided for some reason to rise and quietly leave
the area. Delectable!

Just had one today! I went to see Eric Red's "Bad Moon" and there were three
other people in the theater. After about 20 painful minutes I started eyeing
the exit, but I stuck through until the end.

I was the only person at a showing of TIN CUP on Monday night. The
assistant manager seemed peeved that I stayed to watch the credits --
he was wearing his overcoat and standing by the light switch. As I
walked out of the theater he flipped the lights off, one by one as I
walked down the hall. This was at a three-plex movie house and the
other two films had finished a good bit earlier. They locked the door
to the theatre after I left.

TIN CUP was pretty lousy. I had thought of leaving about halfway
through but stayed in the hope that the film would be rescued with an
interesting ending. It wasn't.

Yeah, but there's something satisfying about pissing off an asshole.

My parents told me they were the only ones in the theatre when they saw
"The Verdict" years ago... the projectionist wasn't going to even bother
showing the film so my dad went over to the projection room and knocked
on the door and asked him to play it...

A friend told me she saw that last Witchboard movie all by herself and
one of the ushers was creeping around her, trying to scare her...

I had a fun empty theatre experience in Dallas. I was there for a
trade show with my boss and coworker when we decided to see a movie.
The only one showing that one or more of us had not seen was Fluke-the
movie about the guy that gets reincarnated as a dog. We got there for
an early showing and we were the only three people in the theatre. So
we took up as much space as we could and enjoyed a pleasant little
film!

I was the only person in the theatre for Mi Vida Loca (Allison Anders). It
was great.

I was the only person for Apocalypse Now, in 70 mm, when it first came
out. I still can't decide if this was a good thing, or final proof of the
decline of Western Civilisation.

My girlfriend and I saw The Stupids in a large theater with only two
other people. We were sitting near the front, the other two were sitting
near the back. Believe it or not, it was a gutbustingly hilarious film. My
girlfriend and I both laughed hard at almost every joke in the first half
hour, but the back of the theater was quiet. I was kind of self-conscious
-- is this movie only funny to us, and those two are thinking we're
idiots? But by the end of the film, all four of us were laughing our asses
off and we knew that all of the people not sitting in the empty seats had
missed out.
