Don Stroud was mugged several years ago, IIRC, and the mugger(s) cut up his
face with a bottle. I think I'm right about this, but don't take it to the
bank yet. Anyone confirm this?
I saw him at an audition a year or so ago and he looked pretty chopped up.

Yeah, he looked like he got tore up pretty bad. He seemed to play some
tough dudes in the roles I recall him in. I wondered if he became a
lowlife like J-M Vincent who ain't lookin' or soundin' too good these
days.

Okay, I'll search for it unless you happen to have a web address handy
to point the way.

Who is Cliff Potts? Never heard of him.
chris poggiali
Cliff Potts is an actor who does a lot of TV series (in the old "Lou Grant"
show, he played the baseball player who married Linda Kelsey, the cute
redheaded reporter) and made-for-TV movies. There's a slight facial
resemblance, but Potts is a small, wiry guy; Stroud is a big, hulking,
biker-looking guy.
Don Stroud played the convict that ran Clint Eastwood ragged in the
precursor to the tv show McCloud- COOGAN'S BLUFF directed by Don Siegal

Thank you for the information. Someone suggested earlier to read about
Stroud in Psychotronics. I checked the 'net and found some websites
but nothing about Stroud. I have heard of Psychotronics but am not
familiar with it. If you are saying it is actually in Shock Cinema,
well, I've never heard of that. If these are magazines, I have never
seen them in the stores around the rural area in which I live. Can
this Stroud information be found somewhere on the 'net? I found a
website devoted to him but there wasn't much information there.

I seldom watched Lou Grant but I do know who Linda Kelsey is. And I
still don't know what Cliff Potts looks like. Thanks anyway. And just
because Stroud looks like a "biker" doesn't make him bad. :)

I remember some scary suspense flick with Stroud - possibly the bad
guy - and Vaccaro might have been in it. Man, that's about 20 years
ago (I haven't searched the IMDB yet) it sems. Does someone get hit
with an arrow in that? Maybe from a crossbow? I don't remember either
of those being the title though. Was Stroud married to Vaccaro or
something, maybe?

That must be why Stroud's recollections were included in the Gary
(Abuse-me) Busey biography on E!. I didn't pay real close attention to
what he said; I was more intrigued with whatever happened to his face.
>Wow...too bad for James Stroud. I loved him in COOGAN'S BLUFF./
Is Don Stroud's real first name James?

Last time I saw Don Stroud, he was playing Mexican crime lord in PERDITA
DURANGO, Tarantino-esque tex-mex adventure by Spanish director de la
Iglesias.

Thank you very much for the information. I have found and visited the
website but there wasn't much content there.
Cliff Potts was one of the astronauts who gave Bruce Dern such a hard time
in SILENT RUNNING. He does (or rather, did) bear a slight resemblance to
Don Stroud. I also saw Cliff Potts at an audition last week. He's beefier,
but still looks about the same as he did in SILENT RUNNING.
