While watching the credits roll after the conclusion of the film
"Easy Rider" I noticed a credit for a female role which listed Toni
Basil as the actress. Could it be? Is this one and the same person
who, a dozen or so years after the release of "Easy Rider" found her
15 minutes of fame singing "M-I-C-K-E-Y?"

The one and the same. She was one of the two hookers that Fonda
and Hopper partied with at Mardi Gras.

Yeah, that's her. She played a girl in the cemetary sequence, or
something. Not really surprising, considering she appeared in the
Monkees' HEAD. She choreographed the dance sequence for Harry
Nilsson's "Daddy's Song" in the film and was Davy Jones' dance partner
in that sequence.

The connection? Jack Nicholson co-wrote HEAD and produced the
Soundtrack album, and Bob Rafelson co-wrote HEAD and directed it.

She's been a successful choeographer for years (even doing AIP's
Pajama Party) and is well beyond that "15 minutes of fame" for the
song "Mickey".

Not only was Toni Basil in EASY RIDER - she was one of the hitchhikers in
FIVE EASY PIECES and was also featured in a lesser known film which she
was nude in, CITIZEN SOLDIER.
She acted in some B-Movie bombs in the late '80's as well - long after
the song, MICKEY.

Yes. I noticed that too. She is one of the prostitutes(?) near the end
during the acid trip. She must have been older than she looked in 1982!

Yes. She plays "Mary," the New Orleans prostitute who takes acid and
gets naked in the graveyard while co-worker Karen Black screams
incomprehensibly throughout the ordeal. Basil has been around for a
long time and her name crops up in unusual places.

Also watch for Phil Spector as the limosine riding cocaine buyer at
the beginning of the film. I don't know how they lured him out of
his house for this role. Promise of drugs?

The earliest thing that I've ever seen her in was "Villiage of the
Giants," a terrible adaptation of FOTG (that Food of the Gods). She was
the go-go dancer that just couldn't stop cage dancing. From the first
moment she was on screen I thought "That must me Toni Basil, no one else
can go-go dance like that." She's amazing. (Film also stars a teen-aged
Beau Bridges and a pre-pubescent Ronny Howard, MST3K did it last season).

The most recent thing I've seen her in was Rockula, which was made
sometime in the late 80s. There are two reasons to see this film: for
Toni, who is still fabulous, and for *Thomas Dolby* as the used car
dealer. Look for it.

Isn't she also in 'HEAD" with THE MONKEYS dancing with Davey (?)

Don't forget VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS with Ronny Howard and Tommy Kirk. She
"seduces" giant Beau Bridges with a modern dance routine clad in a
swinging jumpsuit.

I think she was also in Greaser's Palace. She played the Indian girl
on the horse with no shirt on. Toni also had no shirt on.
