I'm trying to find a good side view of brad's car, or a car that is the same
make/colour with the paneling. I've tried google, but must confess, I dont know
enough about cars to make out what exactly is thier year so my search for an
image didnt yeild much. Bonus points if its a side view with the front right
tire deflated.

Thanks for any help,

Daniel

With the help of a few friends we think we have it narrowed down. We think its
a 1970-1972 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser
(http://www.stationwagon.com/gallery/gallery.html). But we're still looking for
possably an official (someone must know) word on this.

As for finding a picture of this car, the hard thing is finding one with the
right paneling, seems all the ones I find are very low down, but we see clearly
in the film the paneling goes up quite a ways.

Thanks for any help finding pictures of this (again preferably side view of the
drivers side).

Considering the movie thaned FORD motor company for providing cars and that was
pretty much the only car in the movie that would have been a current car
then...and considering it looks like a Ford..then it is probably a Ford.

However I have written to Ford and they have no records of vehicles used in
that movie. Lou's office was blank on that one.

This is a pretty dead end unless you show the movie to an old ford salesman.

I work at a ford dealer. There are old ford salesmen there.

If someone sends me a screen grab I will print it and take it into work and see
if I can get some answers.

I cast my lot into the great internet sea, and look what it dragged up.

I really cant say enough about how much help i've gotten from forums and such.
They even put up with my rocky ravings.

Yup its a ford. Now to just find a nice good, side view of driver side image of
that exact car (Donny @ STN would know what I need it for).

Okay, I am going to make my dad watch the part of the movie with the car in
it later today. Him, and all three of his brothers, have worked for Ford's
at some point in their lives - who hasn't worked for some car company that
lived in the Detroit Metro area in the 1960's? I will try to give you a
full report later today.

Thank you,

Actually, Mark..there are 2 cars used in the movie. Remember, Ralph and Betty.
Then of course there are a few motorcycles.

Embarassingly enough, a few of us were alive when these cars were on the
road. :)

Brad's car is a Ford LTD Country Squire, Ralph's is a Ford Galaxy, both look
to be about 1973.

Scratch that, the year was 1967, which was the last year for the over/under
headlights on the Squires. I believe the Galaxie is the same year as well.

I wasnt sure about Ralphs car, but I and several others (after reviewing the
movie all last night) found it to be a 1967 Ford Country Squire. The headlights
are the key.

We even think we found the exact car (well not exact but same colour scheme and
all

My ford rep told me today Country squire..so he agrees with you Art...those two
make me feel that is accurate. He felt it was a 68-70 but that would mean they
used a used car which makes NO sense but release in 75 film in 74 a 73 would
have been an old showroom floor model..especially a green one would have sat
around from 73 until 74 when they called and probably said "Send the green one
to Fox"

SO I am going to agree with Art.

I know there are two cars but assumed the wedding scene car was a bit older so
not necessarilty provided by Ford. But I do agree now with 67 considering my co
worker saying 68 and Art saying the thing about headlights

I believe Ralphs car to be a 1964 Ford Falcon Deluxe Sedan.

Running with this train of thought, I tried looking up nine nine cars, looks
like thier still in business, didnt see any mention of rocky though.

Any idea what if its even possable the motor cycles were?

Kinda along topic, any idea what the convertable is in Shock Treatment?

Dont you mean an "almost brand new ultra deluxe, eight cylinder convertible
complete with radio, tape deck, plush fur seat covers and many many extras."

I think I have it narrowed to a 1963 T-Bird COnvertible, but not 100% sure
(99%).

Who provided the car for shock treatment? I dont think I saw anythign listed
int he credits but I may be wrong.

I wasn't 100% about the wedding scene car, but stepping through the DVD
confirms its a Ford. Just as the scene changes to the front view of Ralph
driving away, you can just catch 'Ford' on the front edge of the hood.

The type, however, is a guess. I lean toward the Galaxie, but Ford had about 3
cars with a similar body type, the Falcon being one of them.

Thanks to Daniel, I'm now looking up old Fords in a hunt for the truth, instead
of the homework thats due tomorrow night. :)

Welcome to my world (well finding out Brad's car). Word on my few ofther
sources say 64 ford falcon (they claim the side stripe is the key).

Also had an odd reply for my motorcycle querry. Seems one of the others working
on this remembers some tie in with Richard and Honda motorbikes, so they may be
honda, not to sure about that one.

question about these cars...

was the movie shot in England (all of it)? I know Ford has a large plant
there, and I'd assume they are not the same models, trim and colors that we in
the US have.

do you think they shipped over US cars for this movie? (maybe Shock
Treatment-since RH allready had a following)

Also--the budget for the movie was small, used or left over cars are more
likley used.

Mark asked:

>did ST get shot in England ? I dont tink so

It actually was. Shocky was filmed at Lee International Studios in London,
England. The original plan was to film in Texas when they were still going
with The B & J Show and they had money.
