Ok, first of all.....the movie received it's R rating when the film was
released OVER 20 YEARS AGO!!!!!! Times change. I myself wasn't even
alive when the damn film came out.....The adverts "Belt.., etc" also
came out over 20 years ago...It's now 1998...th content of the movie is
MUCH LESS violent and erotic than many other movies out today with R or
NC-17 ratings...You base your statement off of what Richard recorded
more than 20 years ago.....So, I'm gonna make a few statements about the
state of the world today based on 20 years ago....

The Soviet Union is our countries greatest threat....
No actor from hollywood would ever become president!
Our national debt is under 1 trillion dollars!

These statements are totally idiotic and based on OLD facts...just like
your statement is VERY OUTDATED...

Oh, yeah and another thing....don't post WAV's....I don't know about
everyone else....but I got about 7 or 8 VERY LARGE text files which my
computer didn't like downloading...and if I wanted to listen to the 30
second track...I'd stick the CD in my CD player...

hehehe yay slip.net!!! kenny, i dunno about you, but i'm about ready to switch
isp's... it takes at least 5 or 6 tries to successfully connect (dropped carriers,
etc.) and, well, maybe it's not a bad thing that i missed 29 separate .wav
pieces........

if you wanna hear it, it's track 5 on the International CD...

I dont know much about newgroup building, but is there anyway you could
build a new charter? or would that involve just starting a new newsgroup?

Many news servers these days run "binary" filters for any group
who's name does not match /binaries(?!.*\.d$)/ unless the group's
charter permits binary postings (more reasons I'd love to find
this group's original charter...).

What this meens in short is that the server will not accept any
postings that "look" like binary file postings in groups that aren't
designated to allow them. This is done to curb use of excess
resources which in the case of a news server with a full feed is
*HUGE* (if 10-30 GIGS of messages a DAY is your kind of huge (it's
my kind of huge anyway)), so any reduction makes a difference.

You're starting to frighten me Rachael... Great minds think alike,
and so do ours. ;-)

I've actually started work on a new draft charter friday that I
plan to post for review later this week. Once it's finalized and
agreed on, I'll probably also setup a "charter-bot" to handle
front line enforcement issues (no, this is not the same as
moderation).

What would the "charter-bot" do if not moderate? Two things.

First, it will scan all postings to the newsgroup and if it
detects a posting from an email address that hasn't been seen
before (a new poster, or someone with a new email address) it will
automatically send a kindly "Welcome to the Rocky Horror Newsgroup"
message to them containing a copy of the charter and probably some
normal links such as the FAQ.

Second, in a more manual usage I'd use it to send a kindly
reminder message to those who violate the charter. This would be
in a very similar to the way the group comp.lang.perl.misc and
others are handled. That is, it tracks who has been given a
message for what part of the charter has been violated so that it
will never send a message for the same violation more then once in
any 30 day (or whatever) period. How is this not moderation?
Moderators have the power to deny/cancel messages they don't deem
fit for the group. This system would only send a "please don't do
that" reminder message for violations of a charter that has been
accepted by members of the group. It would never deny or cancel a
message, and the 30 day timeout would prevent it from flooding
anyone's mailbox.

Comments? Thoughts? Flames? Love letters?

Dearest Zenin,
I've been meaning to tell you this for quite some time and I think this is a
perfect oppertunity, since you asked for love letters... I've had my eye on
you for years and I must let my true feelings be heard. I love you, I've
always loved you, I will always love you. I want to have your children.

Take me now!

I'm trying to keep it as simple as posible. If it's not under about
two screens of text, no one will bother reading it.
