That all depends on how you interpret the word gothic. I mean, a lot of people
think being a "goth" means dressing in all black all the time with black
eyeliner scribbled all over your face and a Marilyn Manson t-shirt (please, no
one be offended, I happen to like creative eyeliners styles black clothing and
Marilyn Manson, it just isn't really gothic...) So if people wore something
like a violet empire waist velvet dress with pewter jewelry and ribbons and
stuff like that, that'd be goth, really. But it all depends on what people
consider goth....

It seems like most of the audience is goth because a lot of angsty teenage
types seem to enjoy it (usually just for the vulgarity.) You know what I
mean...the "Anne Gwish" type for any of you that read Jhonen Vasquez's stuff.
("Oh my god, look at that guy! He's wearing BLUE JEANS!" five minutes later
after being harrassed for being 'goth' "Slings and arrows, slings and arrows,
why must I be prosecuted for my differences!?")

I'll shut up now. Heh.

I have to agree. Jersey is just fulla weirdos.

No, thats not what I meant. lemme start over:

I have to agree, on the nights that we have an audience, Montclair, CA
has a large perportion of pseudo-goth people.

I guess on some levels it is the norm, but not entirely. We seem to get more
of the lingerie types here. (we had a night for that a couple months ago) The
difference is that the entire show is going to be built around it. The cast is
coming up with interesting ideas for costuming and of course our special theme
Trixie will be happening. Oh and to correct, I will not be part of the Trixie,
=( but Ashlee and our newest Riff Raff V ernon will be.

Exactly, a lof of my friends and I are called goth, although none of us
concider ourselves goth. My normal attire is all black, sometimes just
jeans and a NIN shirt, sometimes long flowing velvet with a bodice and stuff
like that. However, I don't think of myself as goth, although I've been
told I am, based on my clothes, only half of which are goth.

So if people wore something

Right, or the antiquity look of bodices, many layers of skirts, etc. Or the
metal-head goth look that's also called goth...it's a broad deffinition.
Also, if you think about it, 'stereotypical' goths are mopey drug-using
emaciated folk.

Also, the movie kind of lends it self to the lingere fashion, to the skimpy
black, to the leather and lace, to the velvet....

Sorry, just me, the non-goth in black clothes who loves this line of
conversation.
