Here's the lyrics to Tim Curry's "I Do The Rock" (including adlibs).

I DO THE ROCK
(as recorded by Tim Curry)

Edith Sitwell giving readings 14 Moscow Road
Osbert's giving champagne parties, Sachie's got a cold
Gertude's hanging pictures, Alice making tea
Me, I do the only thing that still makes sense to me

I do the rock, I do the rock rock

John and Yoko farming beef, raising protein quota
Sometimes they make love and art inside the Dakota
Rodney's feeling sexy, Mick is really frightfully bold
Me, I do the only thing that stops me growing old

I do the rock, I do the rock rock, I do the rock rock rock
Well, It's stimulating

Solzhenitzen feels exposed, built a barbed-wire prison
Nietzsche's six feet under but his babies' still got rhythm
Einstein's celebrating ten decades but I'm afraid philosophy is just
Too much responsibility for me

I do the rock, I do the rock

Baby Ruth and Dizzy Dean, Best and Colin Cowdrey
Little Mo. Virginia Wade, Pistol Pete and O.J.
I've always liked Di Maggio and Rockne's pretty Knute you know
I could never whack a ball with such velocity

I do the rock, I do the rock, I do the rock
And I can hit it, and it's stimulating, I'm a keen student

Liz and Dick and Britt and Liza, Jaclyn, Kate and Farrah
Meg and Roddy, John Travolta, Governor Brown and Linda
Interview and People Magazine, Miss Rona and the Queen
It must be really frightful to attract publicity

I do the rock myself, I do the rock

Carter, Begin and Sadat, Brezhnev, Teng and Castro
Everyday negotiate us closer to disastro
Idi Amin and the Shah and Al Fatah is quite Bizarre
I could never get the hang of ideology

I do the rock, I do the rock, I do the rock
I do the rock, I do the rock, I do the rock
Do the rock, do the rock, I do, I do, I do, I do, do the rock
Sunshine, sunshine, sunshine, sunshine
Well you can't get your own poison
Sunshine, sunshine
Oh we got the trombone
If you don't have a trombone, ooh the trombone:
How can you get a sunny day?
Come to the rock, you rock until your ears are:
Stimulating, stimulating
Sunshine, sunshine, sunshine
Well, we really are with you man
You deserve it, you know
Everybody does it, everybody, everybody
Sunshine, sunshine.

It has been a while, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't
remember him singing anything about a trombone.

An annotation or three to the lyrics of "I Do The Rock":

"And I can hit it"
When I can get it.

"Meg and Roddy"
Mick and Rodney (Still not sure if "Rodney" is just Rod Stewart, or a
nickname for Bianca or Jerry. Any ideas?)

"Oh we got the trombone
If you don't have a trombone, ooh the trombone:
How can you get a sunny day?

Come to the rock, you rock until your ears are:"

Oh, we've got the top down.
If you don't have the top down, put the top down.
Got to get the sun in there.
Come do the rock, the rock will cure your ills, man.

It's definitely "Meg and Roddy." Linda Fletcher, Tim fan
extraordinaire, copied the lyrics from the sleeve of her album, and
that's what it says.

The lyrics to "I Do the Rock" are available with notes on Linda's site,
The Complete Tim Curry. Very handy for those who are wondering who
"Edith Sitwell" is or who miss the Gertrude Stein reference.

The lyrics printed are from the Tim Curry's album (lyrics on sleeve) for
the main verses. (Thanks Wfink for the clarification that it was indeed
"Roddy" and not "Rodney"). The remaining lyrics (adlibs) were transcibed
from ear. I did my best. Thanks for all the suggestions as to what they
really are saying. :)

Here is the Annotated "I Do the Rock" from Linda Fletcher's "The
Complete Tim Curry" page. She is at http://www.iastate.edu/~lfletch

It is included in her FAQ, and includes the updated verse from the
Tracey Ullman Show. James, I'm afraid you've been scooped. One final
note: Linda has the words from the inner sleeve of Tim's album, so these
are the correct lyrics, not her guessing what Tim sings.

Tim fans should also check out her pictorial salute to Tim for his
birthday; click on "Tim" in the "Happy Birthday, Tim" section at the top
of the page and you will be rewarded with a collage of 21 gorgeous
pictures of Tim which span his work from "Hair," "Napoleon in Love," and
"William Shakespeare" to "Three Musketeers," "Home Alone II," and
"Muppet Treasure Island" (with oh so much in between!). Truly
beautiful, and I'm not even that big a Tim groupie.

Without further ado:

Well you can't get enough of it man

Oh, we got the top down now

If you don't have the top down, pull the top down

How often do you get a sunny day

Come to the rock, the rock will cure your ills, man
Stimulating, stimulating
(something about 'thru the rear window,
you deserve it, man'---just as well, perhaps,
to leave it alone.)

Updated verse, from Tracy Ullman Show 1989

Ronald Reagan's quite upset,
Ollie's been indicted.
Thatcher's lowered taxes,
But the poor can't get excited.
Gorbachev and Glasnost
Are the very latest thing.
But Afghans, Jews and Artists
Find it less encouraging.
