I've been going through my record collection and came across a forgotten LP by
a local band called The Rabble. I bought the record in 1980 for a punk song
called "If You See Kay"...but was quite happily surprised by the first track on
the album. Here are the lyrics...(though they lose something without the
music)

"LOVERS IN THE DARK"

We met last week at the Rocky Horror Picture Show
I was running wild - Tossing rice and throwing toast
You were dancing the Time Warp there in the aisle

Love at first bite two creatures in the night
Lovers in the dark - We're lovers in the dark

Magnetic pull - It was so strong - Our eyes locked
Pulsating bodies - Drawn through space -Our hands docked
It happened there -In the chaos
Smoke, rice and rain

We gave ourselves over to forbidden games
Lovers in the dark - We're lovers in the dark

Touch me - Feel me - No one can see what we do
Secret pleasures - Let's explore our taboos
Dreams fade to light
Time to go - Pink Flamingos
We'll meet next week
Thirteenth row
And we'll be

Lovers in the dark

-lyrics by Brian Moriarty

Now this is very cool. Is there a possiblillity that someone could
make an MP3 of this song and post it on the ng? This is a song I'd
like to hear.

I always try to support the original artists behind a creation if
possible. However, if something is virtually impossible to get a hold
of, and I want it, then I feel no reason not to get a bootleg of it.
Many of us, including myself have copies of the "Bride of Rocky
Rarites" and "Dark Refrains" bootleg CD's that came out a couple of
years ago. RO'B and Nell and the rest of the artists who's songs were
on those CD's didn't receive a cent from that album, but I figured
that I've given all of them enough of my money ;)

If this song is easy to get a hold of (like if I could order the Album
or CD off the 'net or something) then I will. However, I'm guessing
that this is nothing I'll ever be able to find myself, so I was
requesting an MP3.

Um, I don't mean to sound....something (so whatever i sound, i don't mean it)
What do you think it is when someone puts the lips on a website? or a program?
what do you think all the little rocky sound bites out on the web are?
Copyright violations. No one's had trouble with that, s'far as I know, but
that's what they are.

As I understand it, copyright violation of Fox property (ie the image of the
Lips, RHPS songs and whatnot) is somewhat different (in practice, not theory)
than that of the intellectual property of the individual/s who wrote the
RHPS-related song. Fox has made it clear that, if you're not making scads of
money, are advertising the Show, and are keeping relatively modest and quiet
about it, they're pretty willing to ignore RHPS-based copyright violation (ie,
using the lips on your website, making cast t-shirts, using movie phrases on
flyers and whatnot). The gent who wrote the song in question has set no such
precedent.
