Okay, Randy, I will do the show BUT ONLY if I have the final word in all
things and only if you exclude certain casts so that my cast can run the
show...
Heh heh heh, yes Im kidding, only an asshole or group of assholes would make
such condition for performing. :) Break a leg on the Halloween extravaganza,
man! It was great to see you at the con and even better doing Minnie the
Moocher with you!

not allowed in the theatre.
Midnight Express and Marley Madnees...how many people on the newsgroup remember
them or even in Baltimore for that matter...except old cast members and of
course you Randy. well good luck anyway. Ha Ha ha

They were the doppelganger of the Rock and Roll Express.. Beautiful Bobby
Eaton and Sweet Stan Lane. They were managed by Jim Cornette.. You remember
him, right, the manager with the tennis racket.. They were NWA US tag titles
three times from 1987 to 1990 and the NWA world tag titles once for around a
month in 1988.
Remember them now?
Oh.. you're talking about the rocky cast.. my badd..

Specifically, Rodney Amsden was responsible. It happened long after the
original Marley Madness disappeared. Amsden hasn't been allowed
anywhere near an active cast since then. (He tried to get into Satanic
Mechanics in 1997 and was turned down flat.)

Nope: skimming the cream off the top. The people involved are among
the most talented and popular performers in this town's history. Take
my word for it: I was there. So were the Sunpapers (twice) and WJZ
Channel 13, not to mention one sellout audience after another. True,
some of them haven't played in over a decade; some may be rusty; but
they plan to put on a kickin' reunion show.
You can credit Maurica Jones Marcum, Columbia extrordinaire, for putting
it together.

C'mon Randy, don't you remember we were part of that 'cream off the top' cast?
As well as you part of Castle Transylvanians that threw you a great party
celebrating your 1000th show?
Besides, the CT's have had their name in several papers including the Maryland
Gazette, many local college papers as well as a feature segment on Channel 11
news? We also had near sellout audiences in 1994 and 1995 at times. (of about
300 a showing)
All I can say to that is 'SO WHAT'! I'm not jumping on my pedestal and
exclaiming we're the best cast, we're not. Why are you? I'm just going to
state the facts.
Midnight Express as a cast hasn't had a show in 10 years. The Castle
Transylvanians have been an active cast for over 8 years, with about 300
performances under their belt.
Most talented? How many of those performers have been in theatrical
productions outside Rocky? What do they have that you consider talented where
Rocky is concerned? Do they make their own costumes? Make their own props and
set pieces?
Popular? Are they recognized outside the state of Maryland (or really inside
for that matter) Have they won costume contests? Been asked to perform at
cons? Friends with many other casts outside Maryland? Nope.
All in all, it's a shame. It's taken the Castle Transylvanians 8 years to turn
the wrongs that were created by others around. I just hope this 'reunion'
show doesn't once again destroy Rocky in this area.

Good luck and enjoy it, and don't knock another group that wants to do a
show. After all, RHPS history in Baltimore long, LONG predates April
1994, and much of it was damn good. I was there, and I'll defend that
history. Learn to love it.
And DON'T get me started about "repairing damage" - you guys ain't no
angels either...

Let me just refresh your memory a bit...Do you remember when Jeff found Rocky
Horror? It was when the Midnight Express was performing. We asked him if he
wanted to play Brad on a night when we were down a player...You threw a fit,
and completely man handled him..........As I recall, you actually THREW him
through the doors into the lobby...and left. So, not a fan from the beginning?
Or were you just jealous then too?
As for our success and recognition, we represented the Baltimore area in Rhode
Island at the 15th Aniversary conference...and won costume contests, as well as
made MANY props which MANY casts.....including yourselves.......copied and now
rely upon. Sal Piro was so impressed with my performance, he followed me off
stage to shake my hand. We also became good friends with a RI cast called the
Outcasts. We also were photographed and interviewed during the Gulf War for an
article in Stars and Stripes (an internatial publication delivered to overseas
troops)...Where's the international recognition for the Castle Transylvanians?

it... WE made RHPS have a comeback in Baltimore, not you. You just got lucky
enough to carry it from one theater to another. Much of what you did you
learned from us. We got RHPS big in Baltimore, you just closed it down. No
part of the original Midnight Express had anything to do with theaters dropping
the show. Tell me, why did Towson drop it?
Most of the original Midnight Express left Golden Ring because once you got
involved, it wasn't fun anymore.

So, let me see if I get this straight (and I'm taking this how I'm reading
it) it's because of you and your cast that everyone jumped on the bandwagon
to make props.. That they are coping your style and materials in making
props because you made such an impact/impression.. That it's all about you
and your cast why people have/had make props..

Here's a question for you.. back when I started doing Rocky (93-94ish) back
in the Baltimore area, I only heard of Castle Transylvanians (and heard
about them, due to my ex at the time, who was a member of the cast). I fail
to remember hearing about the Midnight Express (well, the cast, that is..)..
So, where were the Midnight Express?

I was always under the impression that RHPS stopped showing in Baltimore
because of a sign of the times moreso than any particular cast.
But speaking as someone who could not book RHPS in UA Cinemas in as far away as
New York due to a certain vacuum cleaner hitting an audience member in the face
incident, not to add to the melee but was that not Midnight Express?

Ah sorry, i should have read the thread. Still, not for nothing, an incident
happened with a cast that affected Rocky on a much greater level. Despite it
being one person the cast should still have been controling of this sort of
thing. Mostly from a legal standpoint. It scares the crap out of me that one
bad cast related incident happens and I can go to court because I am the
director of my show.
And it still boggles my mind how someone could have gotten hit in the face with
a vacuum cleaner. When is one used in the show? Amd I missing the scene? Or is
it one of those wacky audience participation things people used to throw
instead of rice?

Not a fan...I was mostly drunk! Jeff and I started going to Rocky Horror
before you were at Golden Ring. Although I dont remember this happening it
doesnt mean it didnt it means that since then I have chosen other things to
remember. Guess your lifes not that exciting?

When have I ever said that we were internationally recognized??? We are known
in the Rocky Horror Communuty but haven't accomplished anything that anyone
hasnt already done first...with the exception of our Shock Treatment show and
props.

Paved the way for us to have to fight. Rocky Horror's reputation in MD was
destroyed before we came to Towson Commons. I am not saying it was your cast
who did it but the reputaion was destroyed.

Oh now that is funny. When I started Rocky there was 1 guy who yelled lines
with sold out houses and no cast. So there was no comeback...it was still
popular.
