I thought that when I checked last some months ago that the one on the
DVD came with the sketches and the starmap that is on the one online, I
even remember clearly examining the starmap on the DVD version, but it
isn't there at all. It's like I've just stepped out of a parallel
universe.
One is a relatively close rewrite of the other. So I don't know what to
say about the one online, but it is still an official one, but whether
it is the one that Shusett and O'Bannon handed over as a script is
another thing entirely, and if the one online is their original script
still, whether that version was written before or after the one in the
DVD, although I assume after.

Hmmmm . . . interesting.
I'd downloaded the original script years ago, and just assumed
that what was put on the AQ DVD was the same thing. I'd never
even seen the one with the sketches before, until I looked now
when you mentioned it.

which maybe you guys already knew about, but I had no idea
was published. Looks fascinating.
How long ago did you first see the script with the sketches?
Maybe it's a by-product of the book?
I like the picture of the speared alien clinging to Roby's leg
as he holds on for dear life at the back of the Snark 2. :-)
Sorry I don't have any answers for you, but have a great night!

actually, I am not sure how long it's been online, maybe a couple of
years or three. I remember mentioning to this site when it first came
online, and maybe i will do a search for that post. But it came from
one particular site and then naturally went everywhere afterwards. But
it has nothing to do with the Complete Illustrated Screenplay book that
came out , but the illustrated aspect of it was only interesting if you
like the way it was illustrated with a few much seen before photos from
the movie, and there were no concept or storyboard illustrations in it.
That book actually contains a version of the script that was pieced
together to represent the final film as much as possible, and showed
some pieces of the script that were cut out.
I loved the map showing the general layout of man made borders of the
galaxy.

Oh, well, there goes that theory! :-)
The book itself sound pretty though. I definately need to
find it at some point.

Yeah. All of the sketches are interesting, just to see what
they had in mind back then. The pyramid is very cool.
Have a great day!

It has been interesting looking at this old story, and just thinking
about the lots of possibilities of thinking about lost derelict
structures on planetoids, and altering the boundaries of writing what
might be Alien fan fiction, which I don't write but like the idea of
one day writing.
