I read that Drake and Vasquez were both young prisioners given a second
chance, so they became very close. I think I read it in a copy of the
script or something, that's all that was revealed, oh yeah, and they'd been
together for a long time, Weather they were lovers or not is unknown.

They are definitely more than just friends, but not in the way your
heading suggests. I think being the specialists of the platoon, they
must have trained together and spent more time in each other's pockets
than the rest.

In Cameron's screenplay there is a line when they clench fists after the
'mistaken for a man' exchange: 'We sense the bond between them.' In the
novel, Foster describes them as 'Dobermans at play'. I think these
comments sum it up. The look they give each other when they have
finished prepping the guns is interesting too. It doesn't say anything
about emotion, it's about two highly-trained military killing machines
at peak performance.

Also, Drake's opinion of women may be suspect: his gun has 'MY BITCH'
painted on it. He even kisses the gun before they set out.

Vasquez's reaction to Drake's death was extreme, but then he was only
yards away, and she really wanted to be able to do something about it.
Also, she may have realised that it was, in a way, her fault.

When I fir saw "Aliens" I thought the same thing. Then after awhile I
read various things saying that Vasquez was a lesbian and was just
concerned for her fellow soldiers although maybe Drake was a good friend
of hers. Who's to say.

I read the same thing. Sorry, I don't remember where. Apparently, they
were required to marines in the corp for an extended period (maybe
even life?) as part of an agreement of their release from prison.
However, Hudson had no such arrangement and was scheduled to be
discharged from the corp soon.

I've never heard that Vasquez was lesbian before, and I doubt that it
is true. Athough I think the stuff about she, and Drake both
enlisting to get out of prison was actualy to get out of a juvinal
facility. I believe this comes from the extra disc in the "Aliens -
Special Edition" laser disc set.

I don't think that Vasquez was a lesbian (they still don't let
lesbians into the military, even in the future). She was just really
conserned about her friend that was about to be killed/eaten/captured
by those RAT-BASTARD Aliens. Cause you know if even one of those
things got loose in here.... Well you can just kiss all this good bye.

P.S. Does any one know all the first names of all the people in Alien

I don't think so. "mira" is spanish for "look". Substitute the
English word, and it fits just right.

Incorrect!!!!!!!!!! Ferro's first name is mentioned " Mira " .

The line goes like this.

Vasquez "Hey Mira whos snowhite?" (she says this to Ferro)

Ferro "Shes supposed to be somekind of consultant,
apparentlyshe saw an alien once."

Hudson "Well Whooopie Fuckin' do hey i'm impressed.

Mira means "look" in Spanish. "Hey look, who's Snow White?"

Mira is also an easter european female first name. I've known 2
Yogoslavian women with this name. I'll download the script and
read it. Since its the second word if the "M" is an upper case then
that means its her first name. If its a lower case than its vasquez's

spanish leaking in. I'll post a follow-up when I find out. If you
have a copy of the script please read it and let us know so I don't
have to down load it.

It's not in the script. It must have been ad-libbed (?); and she says
"who's the freshmeat" instead of "who's Snow White".

Most people agree this is 'Vasquez's Spanish'.

Are you reading an early script or a late or finale script?

I knew Ellen Ripley, Dwayne Hicks, and Carter Burke (Paul Riser was
perfect in this role).

I thought there might be a couple places to check for these name. Is
there any supplements or magazines that have these names listing. I
though somewhere in the movie, a technical readout has there names
listed (Yes, use a magnifying glass and the slow motion (I'm going to
try this when I get home)). There also was the old Apple II game
aliens that had a listing of all the Marines, but that is back home at
the parents house.

If that is the case, can anyone confirm that??? Then list the
names...

I have the final script and it says "who's the freshmeat" -- but
dialogue and minor details always get changed during the shooting of a
movie -- so the final filmed dialogue was improvised. Also the novel
for the movie says "who's the freshmeat" and the novels are usually
based on the final shooting script.

Me again. Okay, here are the initials straight from the wake-up
computer. There are two marines' that don't match the actors (my
mistake)... and the picture fades before Burke gets a mention. However:

Screen Actor

Gorman, S William Hope (so, we don't know his first name)
Apone, A Al Matthews
Hicks, D Michael Biehn (but we know his name is Dwayne)
Ferro, C Colette Hiller
Vasquez, J Jenette Goldstein
Drake, M Mark Rolston
Spunkmeyer, D Daniel Kash
Dietrich, C Cynthia Scott
Frost, R Ricco Ross
Wierzbowski, T Trevor Steadman
Crowe, T Tip Tipping (RIP)

The next one is a bit of a surprise (to me at least):

Bishop, L Lance Henriksen

Okay, the initial thing still works - but does Bishop really have a
first name? (Did Ash?) Come to that, why does Bishop need to hypersleep?
Surely they only have to switch him off?

Ripley, E Sigourney Weaver (all together now, it's Ellen)

The next one could be Hudson, but it's fuzzy. Hudson's initial does
appear on his camera feed later on, and it's

Hudson, W Bill Paxton

That's it. Just to re-iterate: these initials mostly match those of the
actors. I imagine this is just an in-joke of sorts. But, if you/we are
looking for the marines's names, this is probably your best bet.

Well if Bill is short for William, then that matches as well, doesn't
it?

When I said there were two that don't match, I was referring to Gorman

It could be 3 names Ferro might still be Mira. If the lines where
adlibed I doubt if Goldstein would know much spanish. So it
would lean toward my theory. Also she appeared to say the
line to Ferro. If she had said it to a guy it would without a doubt
be her spanish. On the other hand she could have known
spanish. I think only the cast members, or maybe only
Goldstein really know. And my last point everybody keeps
forgeting Rebecca Jorden, or was it johnson? (Newt).

Gols=dstien auditioned for ALIENS....because she thought it was a movie
about illegal aliens ( info found in supplemental material on laser
disc)...so it is quite possible she knew how to speak spanish....the
dialogue ( in my opnion works better with Mira meaning "look".

You got that wrong. The audition was in England. She thought it was
