the Biography channel last night and our Ms. Sigourney Weaver was on -
wooooohooooooo!
Did you know that originally the suggestion was for the actors in Alien to
be stark naked? Sigourney said "the spanish and catholics wouldnt have
approved, so it was decided we should cover up".
And just for you guys, the scene where Ripley is getting ready for
hypersleep, *she* was meant to be naked in that scene. When the Alien
moves, she shoots into the spacesuit locker. The Alien was meant to peek in
at her and be curious as to what that "pink and soft being was inside..."
".. a kind of *quasi-erotic* moment, but it would have ended up being an
hour long scene and we didnt have the time".
Also, the actor who played the alien (Bolaji Badejo) was picked for the fact
he does actually stand at 7ft tall.
Scott decided he wanted to play a trick on Weaver. As she is preparing for
hypersleep, Scott had told Badejo (in the Alien suit, of course) to jerk his
hand towards her as she touches a certain button. Weaver up til then hadnt
been told what was to happen next. Anyway, as Badejo jerks his hand, she
jumps back so violently, they kept that scene in - although Weaver had
nearly pooped herself.
Obviously, it all added to the final tense sequence...
Anyway, again, if you have hard it all before, you can quietly ignore
this....
