This occured to me even more when I saw Aliens on the big screen a
couple of weeks back, and during the briefing ("how do I get out of
this chicken shit outfit?" scene) the scene was framed to omit them
completely (although they *were* there). At the dinner table they
seemed to be right down the end, obscured by the others. I don't
think you see them getting out of the freezers...
Is there some rule / law that if an actor gets only x number of lines
/ x minutes of screen time then they can be paid a lot less, or
something? Was the story re-edited further than the difference
between the release and the special edition, and their parts were cut
down as a result? Any other reasons that I am overlooking?
Cheers.

Well, one reason could be that the late Tip Tipping was actually a
stuntman, not really an actor. Trevor Steadman was also (I think)
English... so these two would have stuck out a bit had they had any
lines.
BTW, I read somewhere that Wierzbowski has become a cult hero and has
his own fan club somewhere on the web!
