A old knight walks into the meadow and looks around. He spots Elf and
asks, where is everyone?
Have they left the meadow for other social media? Now that I'm retired
I was hopeing to get back to the meadow on a regular basis, but I'm
not sure now.

Elf greets Sir Mark with a Oldbie Hug and thinks for a moment before trying
to answer his question.
Squirrel was here on a fairly regular basis for a while but she sometimes
just vanishes for months at a time and appears to have done so again. A few
other oldbies appear for a day or two from time to time but disappear again
with no explanation.
A whole lot of oldbies disappeared a few years ago to a hidden and secret
Meadow on Facebook that someone in the Meadow there has to send you an
invitation to to enter. The Facebook account I had at that time was hacked
from the east coast so badly that I was having to enter and change the
password so that I could get back in the next time and was in such bad shape
it finally became unusable. Facebook was supposed to remove it as far as I
know but have not done so yet as I from time to time get odd messages
letting me know what is going on there.
Sir Ward seems to be around some but I am not sure how much he is lurking
and how much he just drops in every three or four months.
I do not have anyone's current email address apparently so I can not really
check on what they are doing or contact them.
Two of my family members died at the end of last year and a friend seems to
have died but I am unable to find any information for certain and it takes
90 days in Texas before one can get a copy of a death certificate so things
are rather uncertain as to what is going on there. I have been out of the
Meadow a few times during all of that but not for too long of a time because
I think it would be sad if it died from lack of caring. I can not promise
though that I will not have to be gone for a while towards the beginning of
summer.
I suspect a number of Cuddlers ran into bad times during the recession
causing them to lose their connection for a while and I imagine the
sequester until the end of September might keep a few others away.
I can not promise anything with the Meadow but I guess it is pretty much up
to Cuddlers whether the Meadow lives or dies. Either they choose to wipe
away the cobwebs and run a street sweeper around and give the place new life
or they don't. It does not belong to me or any one person and only one
person's being here will not keep it going forever.
I am not the boss of them.

Yup. I understand.Work is largely why I've not be able to post here
now. Also a friend
told me that the usenet groups are not used as much as they use to be.
I guess because
of newer social media sites. I'll try to post here more often.

There are a few of us still about, some more occasionally than others. I
think the biggest chunk of oldbies migrated to Facebook and built a virtual
meadow there.

Hi Sir Mark

Not many come to the Meadow now, but I still like it. Has a bit more
freedom than facebook to absolutely waffle. Elf is reasonably reliably
here. Besides where else do you get really good cups of tea, hot
chocolate and really good cookies?

Cheers
da Squirrel
