A Toast

(Dave comes up from the wine cellar, carrying a case of wine, plus 3 extra
bottles. He arranges them on the table, with the label carefully hidden by a
white linen cloth. Each cloth covers three bottles)
Cuddle friends, I have the opportunity today to pay a tribute to a few very
special people to me. I would love to pay a special tribute to all of you, and
I intend to. But this effort takes much time, and I have had just so much
opportunity.
Although I have not been in the meadow that long, I have found many special
friends. Good, kind, generous folks. These individuals have characteristics
that I admire, and I try to emulate. To pay a tribute to them, I have created a
special wine in honor of each. I ask each of you to share in these vintages. I
hope that you find them pleasing. I have tried to put my heart and best effort
into each, so that they may be worthy of the special individuals on the label.

This first wine is a tribute to a new friend. He is incredibly talented. He
has my admiration and respect. ( Dave removes the first cloth to reveal a red
wine. On it is a replica of one of Robin Hoods Merry Men. He holds aloft a
golden chalice of wine. The label reads 羨lan-A-Dale') This wine is a tribute
to our splendid bard and poet, the incomparable, Dale. This vintage is made of
zinfandel grapes. The color is deep passionate red. It is a strong red wine
that inspires dreams, creativity, and poetry.
The second vintage is a tribute to a dear, dear, lady. I have enjoyed her
posts, and her spirit, her beauty and sweetness! It may be the 叢ride' of all
wines made. (Removing the linen, the label reveals a Lioness, some tiny little
flowers, and little bees on the flowers) The first thing you notice, is the
beautiful deep gold color. Yet this rich gold cannot compare to the Pouncess
who has inspired it. The label says: 鮮ala's Pride'. The wine is a soft sweet
dessert wine. This is a honey wine, but much more also. Instead of a straight
water base, the flowers of the chamomile are used to enhance the flavor. It
captures the sweetness of honey, the beauty of Chamomile flowers, and the
goodness of the spirit of Nala. This is a sweet and fragrant wine, for a sweet
lady.
The third wine is made for a long established Cuddler, who I have the true
honor to call friend. We share a kindred spirit. I was immensely touched by her
first greeting, and that greeting has never left my heart or mind. ( I will ask
Ninja Bill to store a case at the Lighthouse for you) It is created for a
special occasion, and will be a rare vintage, just as she is herself. (Dave
removes the linen and reveals a white wine. It is crystal yellow. The label has
a beautiful Minstrel playing a lute and singing with her face bathed in
sunshine. The label reads Joysinger Riesling. This wine is carefully crafted in
the ways of the old world, but will be appreciated by all that get to know this
precious vintage. This wine will always put a smile in your heart.
The fourth vintage is a sparkling wine! True champagne must come from
Champagne France, and this is a Cuddleland Champagne. This wine is a tribute to
a new friend. ( Dave removes the linen) The first and most obvious factor is
the color of the wine. It is a brilliant shade of light violet. It is a true
pink champagne from the finest grapes, plus a touch of lavender. The label read
禅he Amethyst Tower'. It is made for Lady Alissa. This is a light sparkling
wine. It is bubbly and beautiful in a tall champagne flute. The color is
vibrant and breathtaking, also an apt description for Lady Alissa.
Yes, I have saved the best for last. This wine is made from the vines given
to Dionysus. It is the first wine. It is from the rich red grapes that Zeus had
chosen as the finest for himself and the Gods and Goddesses. It is the finest
and most classic wine. (Removing the linen, we see a deep dark red wine. It is
presented in traditional French label) The label simply reads 銭enna Cabernet'
in a beautiful script. The label goes on to say, 禅he classic by which all
others are judged'. This vintage is created by selecting the finest fruit from
宋itae vinifera'. It possesses deep red beauty, filled with wonderful aroma and
classic good taste. This is a delightful vintage. It is fresh and enjoyable
young, yet becomes better and more spectacular with age.
(Dave takes one of each bottle and presents it to the person that has inspired
the vintage. He then returns to the table, where, with the assistance of the
Old Grey Wolf and Sir Jon he begin to open and pour the wines. As we pour them
and ask each Cuddler to take their choice of vintage)
Dave speaks again: I have crafted the best that I am able for you my friends.
It is my hope, that my meager skill prove worthy of your approval. It is your
goodness and kindness that has influenced and inspired me to do my best. Thank
you for sharing your friendship with me.
Anacharsis spoke of three pressings of the grape. The first is of Pleasure,
the second is of Drunkenness, the third is of Repentance... (Dave raises his
glass)
"May we always drink of the grapes of the first pressing"

After the toast Dave asks a few of those attending to help him bring out the
repast for those attending. On the buffet table, they place prime rib, roast
turkey, smoked salmon, veal and eggplant parmigiana and rotini with marinara
sauce. Of course there must be an assortment of makings for fajitas, taco's and
other delights. Numerous vegetable medlies, rice, red skinned potatoes and many
different fresh breads. And of course, wine. Lot's of bottles on the table, and
many more just waiting to be opened. Please help yourself, enjoy and don't be
shy!
The table is filled with bottles of wine, even a selection sparkling non
alcoholic varieties.
Dessert and nice a homemade chocolate assortment to follow. to follow, of
course.

Kennabear wipes a tear from her eye. You are too good to me my friend. She gives her
squire a huge hug! And congratulates him on the wonderful job he has done on the
opening. Then she wonders "where did Kedbear go?" She turns, and of course he's already
filling his plate at the buffet table. "My what a wonderful dinner you have here! I
don't know what to try first!" *HUGS* Thank you for the joy and magic you bring to the
meadow.

Dear Snigly,
For a man of the sea not to have rum would be posatively scandalous! Now dear
lady, what's your pleasure, Bacardi light or 151, Appelton Gold or black,
Captain Morgan or Captain Morgan coconut. Even a bottle from the Sandals
resort. Now, How do you like it?

Dear DDL:

There's no way I'm going to echo all of the long post you've
put forward. I tremendously appreciate the effort you put
into it.

Let's now raise a toast to our Knight of Justice, Maker of
Chocolate, and one busy member of our Squire staff!

Yours for the continuing progress of Cuddleland,

The aquarabbit hops into the kitchen and returns carefully balancing
two huge platters of eggplant parmigiana and rotini with marinara sauce.
After placing them gently on the table, she produces a stainless steel
parmesan grater from her apron pocket.

"Cheese?"
