So have you seen 'Fargo'?
It's been a while since I saw it, but I'm pretty certain that most of it
happens in Brainerd. It was based on a true story, and IMHO is a good movie,
especially the deputy sheriff played by Francis McDormand.
On the other hand, I have heard comments from Minnesotans who weren't too
thrilled with the dialect in that movie, which consists of lots of "ooh yah"
and "you betcha".

Yes, Fargo actually was supposed to take place in Brainerd, but they didn't
film here. I thought the movie was pretty funny, if you didn't take it too
seriously. Some people do say "you betcha" and "yeah, sure" But not
everyone. Three things we do say, that I noticed when I got back here, are
"pop" for soda, "supper" for dinner and "I did good." when we should say "I
did well" But Brainerd is actually much more cuddly than it is portrayed in
Fargo. We also have more trees and our Paul Bunyan isn't so scary as the one
at the beginning of the movie. I was in the Peace Corps when I saw it
overseas, so I had to take a lot of jokes from my friends. Movies are
supposed to be entertaining, and that one was.
OUR SNOW IS melting here, and it is finally warming up, so I am happy! YAY!
