~ This IS more 'complex' _&_ ingredient 'intense' !
~ Many of these _do_ have a 'fair amount' of 'multi-tasking' in them.
~ Espcially when dealing with Oriental recipes or those from other
countries / cultures more into specific subtle / spicy tastes, expect a
'laundry list' of ingredients; it is just the way they ARE !
~ With one like this, it is often easier to just do NOTHING but
'ingredients in 1 'run'; put them in separate little bowls _1st_; then
it becomes JUST an 'assembly line' process. This is especially 'helpful'
with those oriental & resturant dishes.
~ ANY thing in here is 'fair game' for deletion, inclusion,
substitution, etc.
~ Even though you might NOT think it 'necessary'; it is often in your
best interest to 'substitute' for 'healtier' ingredients when possible
(unless you simply 'must' have the _original_)..

Bun-Mi Vietnamese-style Burgers

Asian slaw & sauce add crunch & flavor to ground pork burgers. Serve
with veggie chips alongside.

Makes: 4 servings
=
~ Sauce ~
3 Tbsp hoisin sauce
3 Tbsp honey
3 Tbsp Tamari (dark soy sauce)
2 Tbsp Siracha hot sauce
~ Slaw ~
2 carrots, cut into matchsticks
1/2 English (seedless) cucumber, cut into matchsticks
4 lg radishes, cut into matchsticks
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup white wine vinegar or rice vinegar 1 round tsp sea salt
~ Burgers ~
1-1/2 lb ground pork
1/4 lb bologna, chopped then fine ground in a processor
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 (1 ") pce of ginger root, peeled, grated Salt & lots of black pepper
A drizzle of vegetable oil
4 brioche or other burger rolls, split, lightly toasted
Buttery lettuce leaves, such as Bibb or Boston, etc.
Mint leaves & cilantro leaves, for garnish Exotic root vegetable chips,
such as Terra brand

Combine sauce ingredients in sm pot; warm on low heat.
~ Slaw ~ add carrots, cucumber & radishes to a bowl. Combine water,
sugar, vinegar & salt in a sm pan; heat to dissolve sugar & salt. Pour
over slaw, toss well; chill or reserve at room temp.
~ Burgers ~ combine meats with garlic, ginger, salt & pepper. Form into
4 patties. Heat a little oil in a skillet on med-hi heat; cook burgers
for 10-12 min, turning once. Bathe them in sauce during last min of
cooking Pile onto rolls; top with lettuce, mint, cilantro & slaw. Set
tops in place; serve with exotic root vegetable chips alongside.
