BROWNIE BARS
pre-heat oven 350 F
grease a 9"x13" cakepan
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2/3 cup margarine (or butter) melted and divided
1/2 cup boiling water
2 cups sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
12 ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
In a medium bowl, combine the cocoa and baking soda.
Add 1/3 cup melted margarine and mix.
Add boiling water and stir until thickened.
Mix in sugar, salt, eggs, vanilla and remaining butter, stirring
until smooth.
Add flour and mix well but don't over-mix.
Stir in chocolate chips and nuts by hand.
Pour into the prepared pan and bake 35 minutes or until cake begins
to pull away from the sides of the pan.
Cool completely on wire rack before cutting into bars.
