I went to a Tesco super and wanted unleaded at 115.9, however, the
queues were too long. So I went up to another Tesco (Express) 3 miles
up the road. Queues were smaller, but the same liqueur was 116.9. Bastards!
Of course I didn't buy any.

116.9p per litre equals a whopping £5.31 per gallon, and the price is still
heading inexorably northwards. Further tax increases by GB and his merry men
certainly can't be ruled out.

Curiously the petrol protests/blockades occured when petrol was edging
towards 90p per litre I think.

At the time the hauliers were moaning that they were going out of business.

What has happened since then? The haulage industry still seems to be going
strong.

I may be wrong but the last time petrol prices were this high, oil was
around $147 per barrel. Why the disparity in oil price vs pump price now?
Is it due solely to tax increases?

says...

Fucking hell, I thought 110.9 was steep at my local Sainsburys.

I know, it depends where you are. I've seen a BP unleaded at 119.9 in Dorking.

Oh you're quick. Didn't you realise they did this?
It's fully documented everywhere!
If you don't like the prices go elsewhere. I doubt
losing your custom would have any effect.

That is why you need to use petrolprices.com to find the cheapest fuel in
the area you will be travelling through. I save 9-10p per litre most times.
Unfortunately Tesco diesel is not as good as the diesel I buy from the SHELL
garage. With Tesco diesel I get 45mpg, with SHELL diesel I get 55mpg
and have tried ths a few times. So I refuse to buy more expensive diesel
that is a "watered-down chemically enhanced" version from tesco. Remember
they tried the same with petrol a few years ago and ruined peoples cars!
In my area the Shell garage is cheaper than others. BP is the most
expensive
and Sainsburys is nearly as expensive. Even with a 5p/litre off Tesco
diesel
it still costs more than a local garage and is miles away.

I find that very hard to believe - given that the fuel will come from
the same source as a branded fuel just down the road.

Yes, I would buy SHELL petrol if there was a station along my route. Their
V-Power once a while cleans the injectors, but now too expensive. We are
actually now paying V-Power prices for the ordinary unleaded. I have now
started buying small amounts instead of filling, just in case there is a
cheaper station further on. Also sends a signal that we are no mugs.

The nasty petrol that ruined the lambda sensors was also from Morrisons.

Well I hope you got more than 55 mpg for the 6 mile round trip to save,
what? 60p. That would buy you about half a litre so if you get less than
12 miles per litre you've made a loss. Given 4.54 litres per gallon, that
comes to 54.5 MPG, presuming you time has no value, too.
Of course it's the _principle_ that is important :-)
