I recently signed up with T-Mobile because they proposed a plan that
fits my needs very well. I say "proposed" because it's yet to be fully
experienced.

One of the attractions was the ability to manage my account via
Internet.
What I have experienced thus far after 6 days is my Internet account is
unavailable, and within that web site my cell phone number is not valid.
The rep that signed me up just says it takes time, but when I signed up
he said the account would be active within 2 days. I have called
customer service and waited on hold via phone for as long as 20 minutes
and given up.
The phone and usage is great, but maybe they haven't quite mastered the
customer service yet.
I will persist, but am curious what anyone else has experienced with
this new group called T-Mobile.

their customer service is indeed vary, very bad. And they never respond to
your messages sent via "contact us".

as for the internet-based managing of the account, from my experience I can
say that large corporations mostly look at all the internet stuff as at
sales bate. For this reason, if you go to a site of a large co., 90% of what
you see is sales pitch. That's what they care of. The parts of their sites
intended for existing customers are often even hard to find, and they don't
work, since it's their #10 priority. T-Mobile is a perfect example of this
attitude, as well as Cingular. Also, their web site may be maintained by a
hired web firm. That's why the delay in establishing your access.

>I recently signed up with T-Mobile

I've been with Voicestream for quite awhile and they are now T-Mobile. I've had
no problems with them or their customer service. I've use their website to
manage my account many times a month. Sometimes your particular details as to
how many calls, how long, etc., are not available at the moment. But sign on
several hours later and it's there.
I've read remarks telling how bad their service is but so far they've kept me
happy. Hope this helps.

Thanks, it is comforting to know that some have satisfactory service.
I had seen nothing about T-Mobile on this group, and maybe should have inquired of
a poll of users?
I appreciate any input.

They responded to my inquiry through "contact us" after only 36 hours.

Here is the response:
"Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. I would be happy to assist
you. I understand that your phone number was activated recently and you are
unable to register online. However we are experiencing some temporary issues
with T-Mobile.com at this time. New accounts will need to be entered into the
T-Mobile database. Once this has been completed you will be able to login and
register. Unfortunately we do not have an exact date as to when you can register
online. You will need to periodically try to login to www.tmobile.com and
register online. I regret any inconvenience that this wait may cause you."
Perhaps after it is all set up, there will be no need for "human" involvement,
and then the service may be OK? But that will take an undetermined amount of
time.

Dear t-mobile, thank you for your suggestion,
unfortunately, I recently signed up for your service, but I will be unable
to pay
you at this time. you will need to periodically flog your IT department and
upgrade my computers
in order for payment to be sent.

In my area they are selling T-Mobile contracts in the local supermarket. I
was shopping the day they began selling phones. The company was giving away
nice new phone, and free nights and weekend service. The T-mobile service
came out about the time that MCI wireless folded. I happen to go with
Verizon.

T-Mobile is the new name for VoiceStream which has been around for many
years. I have been with them for about 3 years without much trouble.
When I need to contact them, I call their 800 number and get good
response on my request. I have never tried using on-line contacts with
them. My experience with on-line questions or service changes with most
companies has not been good. I use the telephone when I want results.

Well, if you're so unhappy that you cannot access your account
via the Internet, then I suggest that you cancel and go with
someone else while you are still within their cancellation
period. Personally, I'd be more concerned about their signal
quality and whether it meets your needs. Not being able to
access the account online is an inconvenience but not at the top
of my list of things I absolutely require when signing up for
cellular service.

Accessing my account via Internet was only one feature that persuaded me. The phone is
great and the coverage has thus far been adequate.

The issue was merely to learn what others may have experienced with this provider
since they are new in my area. Apparently T-Mobile is no better or worse than most
companies or their reps trying to close a deal. With their Internet management, they
seem to have a third party contractor, and when mine does become a legit account, I
hopefully will not need to talk to any T-Mobile people, presuming they continue to
provide as they have thus far.
Again, the phone and coverage and features for the money is just what I bargained for.
