By Amnon Barzilai and Natan Guttman

An inter-ministerial team headed by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's bureau chief, Dov Weisglass,
is working on a proposal requesting American economic assistance that could top $10 billion.

The team includes representatives from the treasury, the Foreign Ministry and the Defense
Ministry.

A government source said the reason for the aid request stems from the United States' expected
campaign against Iraq coupled with the American desire that Israel not interfere with
Washington's plans or use IDF troops against Iraq.

Sources at the Prime Minister's Office said yesterday that American readiness to provide
economic assistance has not been made in concrete terms.

However, a number of ideas have cropped up in Jerusalem over the type of aid Israel could use:
cash, guarantees for low-interest bank loans from American banks, direct state-to-state loans
from the U.S. treasury, and the conversion of some American defense aid into shekels.

Currently, Washington provides Israel $2.1 billion a year that must be spent in the United
States on defense supplies. One proposal is for $2 billion to be converted to shekels and used
to purchase defense equipment from Israeli manufacturers in the hope that it would invigorate
the Israeli economy.

The final proposal will be worked out by the inter-ministerial committee and the White House.

Discussions about economic aid came up during the prime minister's recent trip to Washington,
and, in particular, during talks between Weisglass and National Security Advisor Condoleezza
Rice.

Weisglass said the aid was necessary to get the Israeli economy moving; U.S. President George W.
Bush mentioned American confidence in Israel's economy during a White House press conference
with Sharon after their meeting last week.

Other than the annual economic aid, Israel expects fulfillment of a July 2000 decision made by
then-president Bill Clinton to then-premier Ehud Barak for a $800 million grant. Since then, the
sum has dropped to $200 million, and discussions were frozen, for bureaucratic reasons, after
Clinton left office, according to the Americans. But with help of pro-Israel congressmen,
discussions are expected to resume at the beginning of the new year.

So, are you saying we should give Israel 10 billion dollars when US
companies are laying off thousands of workers, and our schools and
infrastructures are crumbling?

Answer the question directly, please. If you can't, it will confirm for the

I am saying that if you are going to call for cutbacks to Israel you should also be demanding them to arabs also as that money is a total waste.

We should be calling for cutbacks on much of the money we give to a variety
of foreign governments, in addition to the mega-corporate welfare we bestow
on American corporations. It's *all* bullshit, sweetie.

Regardless, you certainly didn't say that in your original response. You
simply called the guy who posted the original thread an 'asshole', and
proceeded to make absolutely no sense at all with your subsequent remark
about "not always getting what we want in life".

The bigger picture? Who in the supposed "impartial" US press is making a big
stink about us kissing Israel's ass on a regular basis--this time about them
basically trying to extort money from our government? No one. In fact, if it
weren't for the 'Net, the majority of us on this side of the world wouldn't
even have heard about it.

I'm with the original poster of this thread. And I'll tell ya something
else--calling Israel a "mooch" is being nice.

mellster--I'm sure if he'd said something worse, he'd be called
"anti-Semitic" by now...

Why would you insult the guy in the first place, then? The original post had
to do with another country 'mooching' off America.

If one insults a poster who expresses a sentiment about another country
'mooching' off America, and you insult that person, one could reasonably

But Israel is a friend to America...<snicker>

See what our friends have done for us.
* spy on America
* sell American military secrets to America's enemies
* pirate America's technology
* stockpile weapons of mass destruction
* attack an American naval vessel in international waters
* stand by and let Americans be killed

Israel has done all of these and continues to do them. This is not "Muslim
propaganda". All reports are taken from American or Israeli news sources and
journalists.

cases, including 9/11. As he says, this goes beyond foreknowledge of 9/11 to
active facilitation of it
9/11 Revised Edition - Justin Raimondo looks at the penetration of the FBI
by Israeli intelligence and what role this played in 9/11
I Have in My Hands a List - Although Justin Raimondo's article is largely
about the malevolence of the Israeli government, it continues to follow up
on the Israeli spies story and evidence that the Israeli spy ring is
directly connected to the 9/11 attacks
9/11: What Did Israel Know? - Justin Raimondo returns to the Israeli spies
story yet again as the story appears in the BBC.

Not convinced? American commentator Joseph Sobran alleges that it's happened
before. See Did Israel Deliberately Allow 241 American Marines to Die?.

Also: Lyndon LaRouche and his colleagues have been discussing the Israeli
spy ring and its possible connections to September 11. You may or may not
consider Lyndon LaRouche to be a reliable source; many people consider him a
crackpot and/or an anti-Semite. I have provided links to these articles as
an additional resource, so that people may see the different approaches that
can be made to the same facts. The first article on the Israeli spy ring
appeared in August with some novel speculations: Israeli Spies, and Who (or
What?) is 'Mega'? by Jeffrey Steinberg. Subsequently, the theory of Israeli
foreknowledge (and possibly a greater role) was explored in Israeli Spying
in U.S.: Exposé Cracks Coverup of Sept. 11, by Edward Spannaus and Jeffrey
Steinberg, and EIR Blows Israeli Spies' Cover in Sept. 11 Case, by Jeffrey
Steinberg and Edward Spannaus. If you want to see LaRouche venture into some
speculations into the "greater role", read Zbigniew Brzezinski and September
11. This essay actually covers a lot more ground than just September 11;
LaRouche seems to be setting out his entire worldview. One thing is clear:
LaRouche is not presenting this theory out of some love for Islam or desire
to defend Muslims. Interesting reading, whether you believe him or not...

Further Speculations

In the days immediately following the September 11 terrorist attacks, there
was some speculation that Israeli intelligence (i.e., the Mossad) was behind
it, rather than Osama Bin Laden. There does not appear to be any evidence of
this (although the evidence cited by Raimondo is a cause in itself for
speculation). Nonetheless, it is very interesting to read the following
reports about past Mossad activities. Both articles are by Richard H.
Curtiss, a retired U.S. foreign service officer who was chief inspector of
the U.S. Information Agency. His primary source on the Mossad is Victor
Ostrovsky, a former Mossad caseworker and author of several books on the
Mossad. See The Israeli Deception That Led to the Bombing of Pan American
Flight 103 Over Lockerbie, Scotland and Is It Possible that Israeli
Intelligence May be Framing Arabs for Terrorism?.

<respectful snippage of many verifiable news sources simply for space
purposes>

Indeed. But one never hears about that in the US unless they dig. The, er,
'unbiased', 'mainstream' press has seen to that.

What I can't figure out is 'what does Israel have on the US that we continue
to kiss their asses'?

Perhaps the reason Herr Shrub allegedly knew 9/11 was going to happen is
because perhaps our government was threatened by them for some time, for
some reason? And if that is the case, then he knew the minute those planes
hit those towers that Israel had, in fact, made good on their threats.

Perhaps that's why those five guys from Urban Moving Systems were cheering
that day along that roadside in NYC? Perhaps that's why our government
DEPORTED these guys without charging them? Perhaps that's why Urban Moving
Systems' management cleared out their warehouse and got outta Dodge the
minute those men were released to the INS?

Perhaps there IS much more to all this than meets the eye?

Perhaps.

Oh, but to say that--even to allude to it--is 'anti-semitic', isn't it? It's
