20th century. He even beats Erich von Daniken. For those of you who
belive Cooper, let me ask you this. What hard evidence has he come up
with? None. If you still don't believe me, see the good evidence I have
provided, unless you are a close-minded fool. (I'm not talking about
some people I have sent this paper to.)
There are several differences between Cooper and me.
1. Cooper- Supports stories with loosely-based evidence and lies.
Me- I use police and medical records, and the scrutiny of critical
thinking, etc.
2. Cooper- Wants you to waste money on his merchandi$e.
Me- I want you to know the REAL TRUTH.
But what does Cooper do, anyway? His main characteristic are taking
in all kinds of conspiracies and embellishing them until he can tell
his followers about his new revelation, which will often come from his
work on a naval intelligence briefing team on U.S.S. Oriskany.
According to naval records, he was on an intelligence team. For a short
time. As an AV boy. He was honorably discharged. His integrity ends
there. If he's not embellishing a paranoid psychotic's delusions, then
he's just plain lying. He will also make odd 180 degree turns on things
and people, like his new decision that UFOs are actually gov. fakes,
rather than his earlier decision that they contained aliens which
cooperate with the government, and the way he turned on Bob lazar, John
Lear, and many others who used to be his dearest friends, but are now
CIA disinformants. His two other characteristics are that he will
become defensive and aggressive when subjected to skeptical scrutiny,
which, according to various psychology textbooks, is characteristic of
lying, especially PATHOLOGICAL LYING. Cooper will also arrive at his
lectures smelling like 'Boozy' Boris Yeltsin up to 6 ft. away from his
body.
Let's delve into these lies. Cooper has written many credulous
documents. (I call them trash-terpieces.) We'll use Operation Majority,
NASA Masonic Conspiracy. He also wrote in his book about Project
Galileo, and now that I have e-mailed him about it, he made up a leaky
story to protect himself.
Operation Majority- This is mainly about an inside joke John Lear and
John Grace wrote, called the O.H. Krill Papers. Cooper heavily
embellished them with and among other things, an obviously false
statement about 3mm spherical implants placed in 1 out of 40 people by
Grey alien boogeymen. (Wouldn't a doctor performing an autopsy, brain
scan, or brain surgery notice some sort of anomaly?)
NASA Masonic Conspiracy- Here Cooper shows loosely-based about
spacecraft names (What's in a name?) and his total lack of knowledge
about lunar lighting conditions and surface albedo.
Project Galileo- The most peculiar and fraudulent of them all, Cooper
performs the only copyright infringement in the form of a conspiracy
theory. He now states that he said nothing of it, although it was in
his book. He basically says that Galileo will use plutonium and
Jupiter's atmospheric pressure to create another Sun named Lucifer. Now
I'll quote Arthur C. Clarke's book, 2010: Oddessy Two:
"Fifty times more brilliant than the full Moon, Lucifer had transformed
the skies of Earth, virtually banishing night for months at a time."
Sound familiar?
For those of you who still belive Cooper, why don't you check out how
he did on Carl Sagan's Baloney Detection Kit (Self-explanatory)
There is no confirmation of "facts".
Occam's Razor will chop most of his theories apart.
Ad hominem- attacking the arguer and not the argument.
Well, Cooper does this a lot.
Inconsistency-
All those 180 degree turns...
Non Sequitur- The logic falls down.
The logic is frequently weak.
Straw Man- Caricaturing a position to make it easier to attack.
Calls UFOlogists CIA disinformants.
Suppresed Evidence or Half-Truths
Quite frequent with Cooper.
Still blindly trusting Cooper? I have some odds and ends that
discredit him very well.
Now that Cooper dosen't believe there are really aliens taking us,
(which I don't believe either, but I don't go along with his new
theories) he has leaked in many places. Here are two instances:
1. He has called UFOlogists CIA agents trying to to cover up stuff like
the O.H. Krill Papers, which he has accused John Lear of doing. Now
that Cooper says UFOs are artificial threats, but has not changed his
mind on UFOlogists, wouldn't the UFOlogists be doing the opposite of
what they're supposed to be doing?
2. In one of Cooper's speeches, he states that there were UFOs in the
Vietnam War, and EMPHATICALLY stated that they were alien controlled.
Oops, he changed his mind!
Cooper has claimed that John Lear is Condor from The Aviary, an
alleged government group. You see, Cooper listened to a tape with
Condor's voice on it, and analyzed it proving it was Lear. In fact,
Condor's voice was masked with a vocoder, which deletes all human
qualities from voice.
How about the Zapruder film?
Cooper's Claim: The film shows President Kennedy's limo driver, William
Greer turn around and shoot Kennedy.
The Clear, Colorized Version Of The Zapruder Film: It shows Greer look
back at Kennedy twice, one time involving a reflection of the Sun, thus
making a reflection that looked, and only looked like a weapon.
And of course, two stories which Cooper uses to defend himself:
1. Hooverites chased him off a cliff in their car while Cooper was on
his motorcycle, and he lost his leg.
Fact: Cooper was heavily inebriated, and cut off his own leg in his own
intoxication, according to police and medical records.
2. Cooper sent his family away for their own protection, because the
feds were attacking their house.
Fact: Recently, the police have been investigating complaints about
domestic violence in the Cooper residence. I think there is a
correlation.
If you still believe Cooper's claims, there's nothing I can do. Just

Aliens have to put up with a lot of prejudice. Even UFOlogists
call
them "the Greys" because of their skin color-- they don't even _try_
to use
the more politically correct "Ashen-Americans." I'm sure you've heard
the
stereotypes before; _All_ aliens abduct people for medical
experiments.
_All_ cattle mutilations are done by aliens. Those Greys are _taking
over_
our country with their superior technology. Their spacecraft are
smaller,
faster, and more fuel-efficient than ours. The Greys are crafty,
sinister,
telepathic, inscrutable, and they all look alike. The Greys want our
_women._ The Greys use the blood of Christian babies to make matzoh
bread,
hide subliminal messgaes on Metallica albums, eat dogs and cats, and
secretly run the world through the Rothschild banks.
But the situation has gotten so bad that UFOlogist Wendelle C.
Stevens (USAF ret.) recently felt the need to write an article for
_International UFO Library Magazine_ titled, "All 'Greys' Are Not
Reticulans." It seems that ". . . most of the 'greys' are actually
coming
from someplace else and are not Reticulans at all. The true Reticulans
are
being erroneously blamed for the misdeeds of all those others, some of
whom
seem to be involved in the ET genetic experiments now being reported
more
and more."
Stevens complains that when Budd Hopkins was assembling his
book
_Intruders_, he was "pre-selecting" cases where Grey-like aliens were
involved. Turns out that all of the visiting types of aliens were
performing
these experiments, but the Greys from Zeta 1 and Zeta 2 Reticuli-- the
ones
contacting Bill Herrmann of Charleston, South Carolina, at least--
were NOT.
Now, if this strikes you as splitting hairs (although it could
be
important to the apparently-snobbish Zeta Reticulans), you can imagine
just
how many UFO-contact theories are zooming around out there. So let's
take a
look in the UFO Coverup Conspiracy and Wish-Fulfillment Paranoia
pool. I
stuck a toe in that pool, and walked away feeling like I'd been dunked
into
a vat of sewage effluents. This metaphorical pool is stagnant, fetid,
murky,
and chock full of grotty bottom-feeders scrounging amongst themselves
for a
tasty bit of phlegm. So we'll have to be content with culturing a
sample or
two of the most _outr_ growths-- but let's make sure we keep the
things in
the glove box, and store them at Absolute Zero.

-- The B-52's, "Is That You,
Mo-Dean?"
Twenty-five years ago, UFOlogists speculated as to whether the
government really did take UFOs seriously, and might be concealing its
real
and substantial interest. These days, most UFO coverup theories
_begin_ with
the crashed-saucer-recovery story in William Moore and Charles
Berlitz's
1980 book _The Roswell Incident_. According to the authors, the
government
recovered saucer wreckage and four bodies from a crash at Roswell, New
Mexico, and they've been keeping it a secret since 1947. The authors'
previous books do not inspire confidence. Berlitz wrote a discredited
study
on the Bermuda Triangle, and Moore was previously known for his book
_The
Philadelphia Experiment_.
And between three books on the subject, there's not a lot of
agreement. There was either one crash with four bodies (Moore), one
crash
with three bodies and one survivor (Kevin Randle and Don Schmitt, _UFO
Crash
at Roswell_), or _two_ crashes, 150 miles apart, one with four bodies
and
the other with three bodies and one survivor (Stanton Friedman and Don
Berliner, _Crash at Corona_, to be published). Given the above
confusion,
it's not surprising that photos of the collected debris are claimed to
be
the 'actual' debris in Moore's book, and _faked_ wreckage in Randle's.
Problem is, the debris pictured looks like a kite made of tinfoil.
Now, let's add the further confusion of the MJ-12
papers. (This is
pretty condensed, so follow this carefully.) In 1987, William Moore
received
what appeared to be Top Secret papers that outlined the formation of a
high-level commission called Majestic-12, to study the recovered
wreckage
from _one_ crash in 1947. The papers, if authentic, would have been
the
'smoking gun' supporting accounts of a crashed-saucer cover-up. UFO
debunker
Philip Klass turned up a lot of anomalies in the documents-- for
example, a
signature of Harry Truman was _exactly_ like another, authentic Truman
signature, and showed signs of apparent Xerox-doctoring. Friedman has
endorsed their authenticity, even though they mention only _one_
crash--
conflicting with his compromise two-crash scenario. Moore, on the
other
hand, threw the whole fire-and-boat drill into a tizzy when he
announced at
the 1989 Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) conference that he'd served as a
government misinformation agent, feeding false data to other
UFOlogists.
Currently, the various crashed-saucer camps are calling each other
names in
a three-way standoff. And they don't like Phil Klass a whole lot,
either.
Remember, this is the _less_ extravagant end of UFO coverup
theories. These are the _serious_ researchers whose books are
published by
major companies, who get substantial grants from UFO research
organizations,
and who are featured speakers at UFO conferences. These are the
_respectable_ UFO coverup researchers. Just keep telling yourself
that.

Thing"
Moving on to the slightly more. . . _baroque_ factions, we
come
across Bob Lazar, who turned up late last year on KLAS-TV in
Nevada. Lazar
claims to have worked for the U.S. Navy at a lab in Los Alamos, and
was
regularly shuttled to an area designated S-4. At S-4, Lazar was
permitted to
check out the latest in alien-derived technology-- at least nine
flying
saucers using 'gravity-wave drives' powered by antimatter reactors
which use
a theoretical Element 115. Lazar has a fertile imagination for such
things
as candles that don't burn or melt under distorted gravity, and
playfully
bouncing golfballs from a repulsion field.
Researchers for the ParaNet computer network, however, were
unable
to confirm many of Lazar's claims. Beyond a phone book listing, a
newspaper
article about jet cars, and a W-2 form that anyone could've filled out
at
the public library, Bob Lazar the Government Physicist seems never to
have
existed. George Knapp of KLAS-TV says that "We did a lot of checking
on him
and found interestingly enough that his life was disappearing around
him. .
. We called Los Alamos Labs and they said they never heard of him. We
called
MIT where he says he went to school and they had never heard of
him. We
called for his birth records and they had disappeared. . . as if
someone was
trying to make him a non-person." Most journalists, faced with this
lack of
substantiation, would figure Lazar was yanking someone's chain. Knapp
put
him on the news.
Other problems in Lazar's story turn up. In a KLAS interview,
describing the dissection of an alien body-- yep, those pesky Greys
from
Zeta Reticuli again-- Lazar says that the insides seemed to be "one
large
organ, as opposed to identifiable heart and lungs," and follows this
by
saying how the pathologist catalogued and weighed the _individual_
organs.
Paranet has also circulated criticisms of the wonky gee-whiz
gravity-bends-space-and-time physics Lazar describes. It _sounds_
quasi-Einsteinian to the layman, but Lazar trips up on details-- for
example, antimatter is _not_ made by bombarding matter with protons,
let
alone a theoretical Element 115, which can only form within stars.
Lazar wishes to keep his distance from the debates of the UFO
community. This is understandable, considering who brought him into
the
circus.
Who is Killing the Guernseys of Colorado?
The man who brought Lazar to KLAS was John Lear, son of the
Learjet's developer. He maintains that not only does the government
have
_forty_ saucers stashed away, but they've got anywhere from 25 to 100
alien
bodies in cryogenic storage, three living aliens in custody, and a
long-standing "business deal" with the Space Brothers, "having been
duped
into thinking they were making some kind of agreement in which we
traded
permission to abduct humans in return for super-advanced technology."
Lear's Laundry List of established 'facts' includes: secret
U.S.
military bases on the Moon and Mars; there are Martians, but they look
just
like us; there are at least 70 different species of aliens visiting
Earth,
engaging in abductions and cattle mutilations; there are secret alien
bases
underground in Nevada; AIDS was developed by an "R.M. Donner" for the
Navy
between 1969 and 1972; John Lennon, Charlie Chaplin, and Pee-Wee
Herman,
among others, were 'killed or destroyed' by the CIA; and man was
developed
by aliens to be a 'container' for "physical matter, blood, enzymes,
hormones, souls, thoughts, emotions. . . all of it engineered,
multiplied,
grown, harvested, and processed by a higher entity, and their
licensees. . .
At the end of the corporeal life of the container, the soul is
extracted and
either stored for future use or reintroduced into a fetal
container. To what
purpose? It's probably none of our business anymore that it's a cow's
business what they are here for.If you have wondered why the
government has
never come clean on the subject of flying saucers, maybe you should
consider
why we never take the trouble to brief cows on the reason for their
existence."
I'd love to hear the bedtime stories he tells his kids. But
perhaps
the _real_ core of Lear's hypothesis rests on one big assumption; all
of the
rest of us are ignorant, ill-educated sheep. Doubt his tale of the
development of AIDS? You're likely to be told that "If this sounds
unbelievable, this is because there are a number of things you don't
understand about world population growth versus food consumption. The
reason
you don't understand these things is you have not been fed this type
of
information because it's none of your business. And if you still think
you
have a government by the people and for the people, you are as
ignorant as
you are misinformed." Wonder how the government could keep such a
thing a
secret all these years? "Well, if you truly believe that the
government
can't keep a secret when it wants to, then you are worse than
terminally
ignorant. You are willfully ignorant."
Then Lear plays his trump card. "Find a friend in an aerospace
related government project. Ask him this question that will not in any
way
compromise his oath of security. Ask him, 'Would you bet your life
that John
Lear is wrong?'" I think most people can find more important things to
bet
their lives on.
I can guess at least one question you might have at this
point; "How
extreme can this stuff get before _someone_ decides enough's
enough?" When
UFOlogists claim not only to have determined different species of
aliens,
which star systems they've come from, and what their technology is
like, and
where their underground bases are, one can't help but wonder if maybe
there's a limit. Imagine a story so outrageous even the _Weekly World
News_
wouldn't print it. Imagine, perhaps, a UFOlogist who's managed to
throw
nearly every shred of credibility he has to the four winds.
_ "They're good fine people, Stuart, But they don't know what
the
_queers_ are doing to the _soil_. . . The government says it's bad
farming,
but I know it's the queers. They're in it with the aliens. They're
building
_landing strips_ for _GAY MARTIANS! I SWEAR TO GOD!_ You know what,
Stuart?

Which brings us to William Cooper.
Even other UFOlogists say "Enough!" at this point. Cooper made
his
first appearance on Paranet, and administrator Jim Speiser has since
barred
Cooper from posting material onto the system. Budd Hopkins wrote "The
Paranoid Temptation" for the _MUFON Journal_, specifically denouncing
Cooper. James Moseley's _Saucer Smear_ calls Cooper's and Lear's
claims
"wild ravings," and Jerome Clark of _International UFO Reporter_ uses
the
phrase "lurid pulp fantasies." _UFO_ magazine attacked Cooper in its
"Whistleblowers" column; editor Vicki Cooper (no relation) recently
wrote an
article about fascist trends in UFO imagery and claims, citing
Cooper's use
of the anti-Semitic _Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion_ in his
recent
book _Behold a Pale Horse_.
According to a lecture delivered at the 1989 _Whole Earth
Expo_,
Cooper's yet another former military man who's been seeing UFOs and
UFO-related stuff throughout his career; aircraft carrier-sized
spaceships
emerging from the ocean depths, for example, or 'enemy helicopters'
abducting whole villages in Vietnam. You know, the _usual_. Lesser men
would
have shrugged such things off as being merely "spooky," or "a
coincidence,"
but Cooper immediately realized that Something Was Going
On. Eventually,
Cooper claims, he was given "Top Secret Magic" clearance, where he
dealt
with "answers to questions which you didn't know what the questions
were so
you really didn't know what the message was all about." Uh-huh.
Suddenly Cooper was dealing with all sorts of UFO coverup
stuff--
crashed saucers recovered by the Nazis in 1936, "Operation Majority,"
Project GRUDGE, MAJI, SIGMA, PLATO, AQUARIUS, GARNET, POUNCE, SNOWBIRD
and
REDLIGHT, the test flights of captured UFOs in Nevada, the real moon
landing
in 1962, the alien creation of Jesus and four major religions, and
lots,
lots more. Cooper out-Majestics the other conspiratologists by
presenting
the Jason Society, top secret people from the Manhattan Project, Nobel
prizewinners, and people from the Council on Foreign Relations, who
were
appointed to figure out the alien technology. He also maintains that
Whitley
Streiber's book _Majestic_ was based on authentic government
documents-- and
that Streiber, along with William Moore, is a government
agent. (Streiber,
by the way, was so angered by obnoxious UFO proponents that he turned
away
from the whole movement.)
It's part of the effort to weaken our moral fiber and get us
used to
the existence of aliens, Cooper sez. At a 1989 conference in Modesto,
Cooper
maintained that the actors on the TV series _Alien Nation_ were _real_
aliens, whom he designated "Orange." This cultural saturation effort
is
funded in large part through drug money; Cooper says that the "Project
Grudge" documents from the early 1960's specify that George Bush would
use
Zapata Oil's drilling platforms as smuggling centers. And when
President
Kennedy ordered MJ-12 to stop their drug running, the Bilderbergers
ordered
him killed. Or, in Cooper's words at the _Whole Earth Expo_ talk;
"President Kennedy was killed by the driver of his car, his
name was
William Greer, he used a recoilless, electrically operated,
gas-powered
assassination pistol that was specially built by the CIA to
assassinate
people at close range. It fired an explosive pellet which injected a
large
amount of shellfish poison into the brain, and that is why, in the
documents, it stated that President Kennedy's brain was removed. If
you've
studied the case, you will find that indeed his brain disappeared. The
reason for that is so that they would not find the particles of the
exploding pellet or the shellfish poison in his brain which would have
proved conclusively that Lee Harvey Oswald was NOT the assassin. In
fact,
Lee Harvey Oswald never fired a shot, he was the patsy."
And a year later, at the 1990 _Expo_: "[MAJESTY TWELVE] is the
secret government, which controls the alien technology and the Defense
Industrial Complex. Who report to the Royal Institute of
International
Affairs in London. Who reports to the Rothschild family, who owns the
Bank
of England and who owns, ladies and gentlemen, the FEDERAL RESERVE OF
THE
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." UFOlogists who disagree with Cooper are
part of
the disinformation campaign, and L. Ron Hubbard's in on it as well,
since
Scientology teaches about extraterrestrials. Cooper claims Hubbard
worked
for the Office of Naval Intelligence, and that a former associate of
his had
founded the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, _pretty damn strange, huh?_ And
as
the Council on Foreign Relations is planning to 'depopulate' two
billion
people by the year 2000, and the dark night falls upon the globe, the
smiler
with the knife roams the alleyways of our souls and we await with
shuddering
dread the whisper of the truncheon above our heads--
_AAAAAGGGGHHHHH!! ENOUGH! STOP!_ Jesus, do you people know
what it's
like to slog _through_ this shit? Forty-five-page rants about how a
rival
UFOlogist is a mother-grabbing, father-raping whoremonger? The
whoremonger's
reply that the first guy is a coke-snuffling Communist
degenerate? Their
followers apologetically claiming that the more embarrassing screeds
are CIA
disinformation?
I'm only exaggerating _slightly_; I assembled a lot of Cooper
and
Lear material for this article, but it's mostly umpty-ump-page rants
about
how other UFOlogists-- usually the ones who dare criticize Cooper--
are
government disinformation agents. His lectures have included rococo
accounts
of analyzing videotapes of John Lear for careful 'body analysis' and
'voice
descrambling.' At one point, according to _UFO_ magazine, Cooper
accused Bob
Lazar of dealing in drugs and prostitution; Lazar has admitted on a TV
show
that he'd written software to manage a bordello (which is no big
deal), but
the 'drug dealing' part seems to be based on a reference to Lazar's
jet-car
hobbies and a 'speed lab' where he makes the fuel. There must be a
market
for this stuff; UFO conspiratologist Lars Hansson is selling a 300+
page
compendium of documents detailing his wars with Lear and Cooper-- whom
he
initially _believed_. You people don't know how _ugly_ this stuff can
get;
it's like watching wasps crawl on an infant's cheek.
Maybe you can't blame the UFO-conspiracy theorists for such
extremes. After all, they claim they're onto the Most Important News
Story
of All Time, and they face the obstacles of government surveillance,
harassment, and misinformation. But I have a hard time believing that
even
the _respectable_ UFO coverup researchers could track down their own

Those Protocols are those of the Illuminati, Exactly as Bill Cooper
presents them in his book, and NOT of Jews. I've read all of them and
immediately noticed that the usage of such words as Jews, and Goyim

Just because the Pseudoscience FRAUD of
Psychology/Psychiatry/Psychoanalysis as Practiced, is exposed does not
automatically mean that scientology has something to do with it. There
are others who know what this PSY-manipulation is about and don't like
it either.

There's no doubt that Hubbard at the very least edited or modified it,
though it now appears that he may not have written the bulk of it. The
booklet uses several of Hubbard's neologisms and actually mentions
Dianetics, his "science of the mind" which he launched in June 1950.
The giveaway is the use of the word "thinkingness", a neologism which
Hubbard coined in 1954. This means that the purported authorship by
Beria is certainly false; he was arrested and imprisoned immediately
after Stalin's death in July 1953 and shot on 24 December 1953.
Hubbard publicised the booklet in late 1955 as the first stage in a
40-year war against psychiatry which the Church of Scientology continues
today. Hubbard had been convinced for some years that communists and
psychiatrists were separately conspiring against him to do him and
Dianetics/Scientology down and sent a lengthy series of letters to the
FBI denouncing various of his associates, including his wife, as
communist agents provocateur. In August 1955 a Scientologist named Edd
Cark was arrested in Phoenix, AZ for practising medicine without a
license (perhaps as a result of a complaint from local medical
authorities). Hubbard was livid and for the first time denounced
psychiatrists as working for communist - specifically Soviet -
interests. The two separate prongs of attack, he claimed, were in fact
a covert alliance with psychiatrists deeply implicated:
"Nearly all the backlash in society against Dianetics and Scientology
has a common source - the psychiatrist-psychologist-psychoanalyst
clique ... I could tell you about three actual murders. I could tell
you about long strings of psychotics run in on the Foundation and the
Association, sent in to us by psychiatrists who then, using LSD and
pain-drug-hypnosis, spun them and told everyone Dianetics and
Scientology drove people insane ... The public utterly LOATHES
psychiatry. You waste time if you try to defame psychiatry to the
public ... Psychiatry stands in the public mind for ineffectiveness,
lies and inhuman brutality."

Later he switched things around and claimed that communists and neo-Nazi
elements were actually working for a secret worldwide psychiatric
conspiracy masterminded by the Bank of England, which remains
Scientology's position to this day. (Shades of Lyndon LaRouche?)
Hubbard announced to his followers that psychiatry had begun a war
against Scientology and would suffer the consequences. To support his
claims he produced the "Brainwashing Manual" to demonstrate to his
followers the magnitude of the conspiracy they were up against. He
first referred to it at the end of September 1955 in an internal
Scientology news sheet:
"I could tell you about the strange politics and ambitions of
psychiatry, so well covered in the book Psychopolitics, and give you a
proper riddle as to why we, a small group, the only ANGLO-SAXON
DEVELOPMENT IN THE FIELD OF THE MIND AND SPIRIT, have been subjected
to so much attack and finance."

On 13 December 1955 he provided more background information to
Scientologists:
"BRAINWASHING MANUAL
The brainwashing manual which came into our possession so

cases are now turning up, and unless the basic philosophy of the
brainwasher is understood, they are more difficult to handle. SLP
Issue 6 or 7 will very undoubtedly handle brainwashing - 7 by the
way is not yet released, but 6 will do until it comes along.
Therefore there is no point in writing an additional manual to
handle this as a specific problem.
Some of the mystery concerning the manuscript on brainwashing
which came into our hands in Phoenix was resolved when it was
discovered that a book called Psychopolitics (spelled with a K) is
in the Library of Congress. It is in German. It was written by a
man named Paul Fadkeller, and was published in Berlin in 1947.
Although I may be misinformed, and I definitely do not read German,
this book is probably the Russian translation.
It is simply our intention to make the book available for 50 cents
a copy to people in Dianetics and Scientology so that they can be
informed as to the actual character of brainwashing and the
mechanics of it. To that degree it is a technical book. There is no
intention of handing it around into official quarters since I am
sure official quarters must know about it since the book is
apparently on file at the Library of Congress, and naturally if it
is on file at the Library of Congress, officialdom must know about
it. Thus there is no point in beating the drum concerning it.
If I am asked by press or persons in authority concerning our
release of this, which I may well be, I will have to reassure them
that there is no political significance attached to it. We couldn't
be less interested, but brainwashing happens to be a facet of the
human mind and it has been necessary to make available to our own
people any and all texts which exist on the subject. We probably
should get hold of the book at the Library of Congress and
translate it in full, but we do not have the money or the time to
do this just now. Thus Don has been asked to mail a copy of the
manual as printed to our various professional members, and to make
other copies of it available through Box 242 Silver Spring,
Maryland, for 50 cents a copy. This is certainly reasonable enough.
I don't think there is any point of any kind in placing it in
official hands, as I have said, since even the U. S. Army and Air
Force must be fully cognizant of brainwashing, since, as I have
noted, a copy of it is on file at the Library of Congress. It could
also be noted at the same time that there is a general movement
among psychiatry to correct their own profession and to do
something to those psychiatrists in it who are hurting and killing
people with electric shock and surgery, and thus this is no concern
of ours.
I repeat, our interest in this is professional not political.
Brainwashing has become so much of a subject that it is very well
for anybody having to do with the field of the human mind to be
able to understand the intentions behind it and how it is done.
This is the only work we have on the subject. If there are any
political repercussions to be expected by us, I would consider that
we are being very self-conscious, since obviously if there were any
political repercussions to be expected, they would have come before
this since, as I say, this book has evidently been in very wide
circulation already and is on file at the Library of Congress so
far as we know. I think the general reaction of the public is that
they couldn't care less."

At least some of this is false. The Library of Congress does not have
and appears never to have had a German-language copy of the
"Brainwashing Manual" or indeed anything by a Paul Fadkeller. The only
copy of the booklet in the library was published in 1991 by the
Foundation of Human Understanding, Grants Pass, OR; its call number is
92166543.
However, Germany's national library, the Deutsche Bibliothek, does have
a publication entitled "Psycho-Politik: Zur Demokratisierung,
politischen Erziehung und Säuberung" by Paul Feldkeller, published in
Berlin by Chronos-Verl in 1947. The call number is DBF D 49/1143. (It
was republished as "Wörterbuch der Psychopolitik" in 1967). Babelfish
translates the original title as "Psychopolitics: on democratization,
political education and cleaning". This is evidently what Hubbard was
referring to but whether it bears any relation to the Hubbard version is
another matter (obviously it's something I can't check personally).
It's wellnigh certain that Hubbard at the very least edited the English-
language version, as it contains specific references to Dianetics; since
Dianetics didn't exist until 1950 the 1947 version could not possibly
have included references to it.
Just to confuse matters still further, there's a German website at
http://www.psychopolitik.de/ which features a German translation of the
(supposed) English translation of the German translation of the original
Russian "Brainwashing Manual"! The easy way to identify versions of the
booklet derived from the English edition is to look for the
introduction, often attributed to "Charles Stickley" of Columbia
University. This is probably a pseudonym invented by Hubbard; a check
on scholarly papers, books, society and university records, and Who's
Who entries for 1955 reveal no sign of Charles Stickley. Even the
resources of the FBI were unable to uncover Stickley. The introduction
certainly reads like Hubbard: compare his September 1955 claim that
Scientology is the "only ANGLO-SAXON DEVELOPMENT IN THE FIELD OF THE
MIND AND SPIRIT" [capitalisation sic] to "Stickley's" assertion, also
dated 1955, that "Dianetics is the only entirely American development in
the field of the human mind."
Other versions of the booklet are attributed to Kenneth Goff - see
http://home.eznet.net/~rmack/jubel/psychopolitics.htm for an example.
There are significant textual differences between this and the Hubbard
version of the booklet. Page 3 paragraph 5 of the Goff edition reads:
To achieve these goals the psychopolitician must crush every "home-
grown" variety of mental healing in America. Actual teachings of
James, Eddy and Pentecostal Bible faith healers amongst your misguided
people must be swept aside.
Page 3 paragraph 5 of the Scientology edition reads:
To achieve these goals the psychopolitician must crush every "home-
grown" variety of mental healing in America. Actual teachings of
Freud, James, Eddy and others amongst your misguided peoples must be
swept away.
There is also a different introduction, supposedly penned by Goff. It
states:
"From May 2, 1936, to October 10, 1939, I was a dues-paying member of
the Communist Party, operating under my own name, Kenneth Goff, and
also the alias John Keats. In 1939, I voluntarily appeared before the
Un-American Activities Committee in Washington, D.C., which was
chaired at that time by Martin Dies, and my testimony can be found in
Volume 9 of that year's Congressional Report."
His testimony reportedly does *not* appear in the Congressional Report
and the real Goff died of a heart attack in 1943. Yet "Goff" also
refers to Dianetics - which did not exist until 1950 - and says in the
introduction:
"Another example of the warfare that is being waged can be seen in the
attempt to establish a mental Siberia in Alaska, which was called for
in the Alaskan Mental Health Bill. A careful study of this Bill will
make you see at once that the land set aside under the allotment could
not be for that small territory, and the Bill within itself
establishes such authority that it could be turned into a prison camp
under the guise of mental health for everyone who raises their voice
against Communism and the hidden government operating in our own
nation."
There simply is no way that the real Goff could have known anything
about this, as the Alaska Mental Health Bill (H.R. 6376) did not exist
until 1955. Furthermore, the "Goff" version claims that the Russian
original dates from 1936 - so how could it refer to events up to 19
years in the future?
The most probable explanation is that this version is a further
adaptation of Hubbard's, which itself probably was an adaptation of a
translation from the German original. At the time Hubbard was in bed
with a variety of right-wing organisations, including openly racist and
anti-semitic elements - he was a public supporter of South African
apartheid and the forced resettlement of that country's black
population. He distributed copies of the booklet to those he felt were
potential allies against communism. The attribution to Goff, a former
Communist, is presumably an attempt by right-wingers to bolster the
booklet's credentials. The added reference to "Pentecostal Bible faith
healers" suggests that this version originated with right-wing
fundamentalist Christians, which seems distinctly possible when you
consider that today the booklet is distributed by organisations such as
Christians United for Responsible Enlightenment of Society (CURES) and
Christian Bible Study as a dire warning (as if it were still the 1950s!)
of the peril of the Red Menace.
On 16 December 1955 Hubbard sent copies of the "Brainwashing Manual" to
the FBI and Scotland Yard:

HISTORY
In our studies of brainwashing it has been necessary to procure
what information existed on the subject. Fortuitously, in Phoenix
there came into our hands two manuscripts on the subject; as well
as I can recollect, they were left there at the front desk with the
request that they be mailed back to their owner. We are not sure
exactly from whom these came, but we understand now that this is
unimportant since the subject is broadly rather well known in a
book on Psychopolitics. It is to be found in the Library of
Congress. It is in German, but we suppose it is the same manual. As
we needed this material for research, we read it off onto a tape,
compiling the two manuals and removing from them some of their very
verbose nomenclature, substituting for it more common English
terms, and we have had a few copies of this struck off for use in
our research.
It is necessary if one is confronted by a case of brainwashing to
understand the motives and general procedures of the people who did
it. I must say an inspection of this manual does not make for much
respect for the motives of people who brainwash other people. In
the early pages of this manual, there is a letter from the person
who purportedly gave these manuals to the organization, "Charles
Stickley", supposed to be a professor at Columbia University in New
York City. This letter, included in the manuals as printed, makes
it definitely and adequately clear that these manuals were
reprinted for study by research workers. However, in handing out a
copy of one of these manuals to one of our own people who had not
heard of it, he made several wrong estimates of the manual itself.
At first he thought it was a piece of communist propaganda. Then he
thought it was something the organization had composed. Then on
further inspection, he did not know what to think and it had to be
pointed out to him very specifically that this was a synthesis of a
Russian instruction book on the subject of brainwashing, and it had
to be pointed out to him that it was reprinted for the benefit of
people working to remedy and heal brainwashing. It had to be
pointed out to him additionally that there was a cover letter in it
which explained these things. Thus if you have one of these copies
and it gets away from you which it might, you may find it necessary
to explain exactly what it is.
We certainly have the right to have in our possession materials
covering something as intimately connected to mental research as
brainwashing. We have the right to know why and where and who.
Furthermore, this material is evidently well known to various
governments and is not classified, since the subject
"Psychopolitics" (which is the technical name for brainwashing) is
to be found in the major libraries of the world.
In the original text of this book there was a warning to
psychopolitical operatives that they must stamp out Dianetics,
Christian Science, and practical psychology, as these alone
represented a menace to the brainwashing programmes. This reference
in the text to Dianetics (which has been known to the Russians
since 1938) makes the matter very much our business, quite aside
from research. Yet if most of the vagaries and upsets from which we
have been suffering have stemmed from a desire on the part of some
political group attempting to accomplish a political coup and in
the road of which we have been standing, then we certainly have the
right to know why we have been knocked around by press and
governments to the degree that we have been. Hardly a word uttered
against Dianetics and Scientology has had any truth in it. The
prevalent official but not the public opinion regarding Dianetics
and Scientology is that they are phony sciences, tricked up to
hoodwink people. Contrast this with the fact that in Dianetics and
Scientology alone in all the world of mental healing lie the
answers to increased intelligence and ability, and not very
incidentally, in Dianetics and Scientology and in Dianetics in
particular, we have the total antidote for the eradication of
brainwashing. In other words we could unbrainwash them with
Dianetics as fast as they are being brainwashed, given enough
staff. Furthermore we can put troops and persons in a condition
where they cannot be brainwashed. This we can do in Scientology.
Thus if brainwashing is being counted upon heavily to accomplish a
great deal inside and outside the nations under attack, there would
be only one organization which would be standing thoroughly in the
road of that programme, and if that programme inside a country had
advanced to a point where officials could be influenced, then you
would discover of course this odd official opinion of Dianetics and
Scientology, that they are quack sciences.
We are not planning to use this reprinted manual for purposes of
propaganda. However, to prevent any misunderstanding from
occurring, the highest police in England and America have both
received copies and have been told that this is a reprint manual,
and that we do not wish to cause them any extra labor in case
another one of them falls into their hands. Actually, however, it
is my belief that they have had the original, which is to say the
communist version of these manuals, in their possession for years,
and have simply been unable to credit it or unable to do anything
about it. Thus our reprinted version should come as no shock to
them.
It has been my experience with Anglo-Saxon governments that where
idea propaganda line attacks were concerned they couldn't care
less. They do not believe that propaganda is effective. Otherwise
they would themselves engage in more propaganda activities. The
Anglo-Saxon traditionally depends upon force in order to accomplish
his ends.
This is one of the reasons why communism has made such vast
progress across the face of the world. It is an idea advancing
against arms, and the arms of course will never be able to stop an
idea. An idea will be necessary to stop the idea. We may very
unfortunately be those persons in possession of the idea that will
stop the other idea. Certainly the way things are going, if we
don't use our ideas to stop the incoming ideas across the face of
earth, we are going to wind up one of these days in the middle of a
total communism, living in a totally brainwashed society, the way I
look at it.

The FBI were not overly impressed by it. In a report sent to J. Edgar
Hoover (who maintained an unhealthy fascination with the activities of
Hubbard for over 30 years), an agent tasked with assessing the booklet
commented that its authenticity seemed doubtful given its mysterious

Hubbard has identified this booklet as being issued under the Hubbard
Dianetics Research Foundation, Box 242, Silver Spring, Maryland. The
stated purpose of the Foundation is to "study and conduct research in
the field of human mind and of human thought in action through the
medium of dianetics," which may be likened to psychotherapy with certain
differences as to method and theory.
The authenticity of this booklet seems to be of a doubtful nature since
it lacks documentation of source material and communist words and
phrases. Also, there are no quotations from well-known communist works
as normally would be used in a synthesis of communist writings. In
addition, the author himself admits that he cannot vouch for the
authenticity of this booklet.
By definition, psychopolitics is the art and science of asserting and
maintaining dominion over the thoughts and loyalties and individuals,
officers, bureaus, and masses, and the effecting of the conquest of
enemy nations through "mental healing." In order to achieve success,
psychopolitics makes use of such techniques as electric shock, drugs and
hypnosis. It is to be noted that these techniques are in general use in
reliable mental instititions [sic] in this country.

Letter to SAC, Los Angeles
In the editorial notes in this booklet, the author expresses a concern
over the fact that there is "no law against driving anyone insane." He
also expresses concern over the use of a new drug, LSD, "one-millionth
of an ounce of which can create insanity." In addition, the author calls
for legislation which would take the treatment of mental patients out of
the hands of "European Indoctrinated practitioners." According to the
author, treatment of the insane should be placed in the hands of
ministers. It appears from these statements that the author is
expressing primarily a dissatisfaction with methods of treatment of
mental patients in this country.

The April 24, 1951, issue of the Washington _Times-Herald_ reflected
that the wife of L. Ron Hubbard, "dianetics founder," charged that
Hubbard was "hopelessly insane" in her petition for divorce filed April

organisations and right-wing groups with copies of the booklet, claiming
that he had been authorised to do so by the FBI. The Christian

subsequent letter stated that "authorization" had now been received to

This Church has no connection with the above-named foundation or with
the subject known as "Dianetics", nor have we had any prior knowledge of
this publication. We note that among its contents are various references
to Christian Science, but we have no means of evaluating the contents of
the book beyond judging it as any well-informed, intelligent citizen
might do. We never heard of the "editor, Charles Stickley.
It occurs to us that, since the name of your organization has been
invoked by the Hubbard Dianetic Research Foundation, you might wish to
have the above information. If you can do so with propriety, we should
be glad to receive any information from you that would throw light on
the authenticity or lack of authenticity of this alleged document. This
would be especially helpful inasmuch as it is possible that we may have
future inquiries about it, in view of the references to Christian
Science it contains.

The "Brainwashing Manual" had nonetheless managed to become a favourite
myth of the anti-Communist right, rather like the Coso Artefact for
creationists. Even the veteran Republican senator Strom Thurmond got in
on the act. Numerous copies were sent to the FBI in subsequent years,

The April 24, 1951, issue of the "Washington Times Herald" contained an
article with a Los Angeles, California, date line [sic] indicating that

insane." Individuals who have been connected with the organizations
headed by Hubbard or who have been in contact with him have indicated he
is a "crackpot," and of "doubtful mental background." No investigation
has been conducted by the Bureau concerning Hubbard.
NOTE: Oklahoma City Office forwarded to Bureau captioned document which
could be construed as a text on brainwashing which elaborates on a
purported address by "Beria" to American students at "Lenin University"
at an unspecified date. The document contains some reasonable statements

Nothing is contained in Bufiles which would furnish any basis whatever
to justify the allegation that the contents of the above-described
booklet originated with the FBI.
_OBSERVATIONS_
Captioned document is apparently a thinly-veiled attack upon mental
health programs along the line that such programs are a part of the
world-wide communist conspiracy. It is apparently being circulated by
persons of highly questionable background and, in some instances,
sanity.

Brainwashing manual was written by L. Ron Hubbard.
Only a dip would continue to use a document from such a suspected

I've personally known people who claimed credit for significant
technological innovations which we enjoy today, but I had also known
them to be braggers with egos which needed constant stroking, and
while they were indeed technically proficient, and at least in theory,
could have done what they've claimed, whether they in Fact did is
another matter.
But the most notable aspect of this matter is the apparent focus on
scientology and a member thereof as being involved, to which I say;
WHO CARES? What's the difference WHO wrote that treatise? IT'S
PINPOINT ACCURATE, AND THAT'S WHAT TRULY MATTERS!!!

repeatedly mentions Dianetics despite no current knowledge of Dianetics in
Russia, is pretty damning evidence. Also damning is that LRH originally had it
published himself.

most of it BUT...it's a VOLUNTARY system, if you don't agree with it,

was adapted, called "Dialogues Between Montesquieu and Machiavelli In
Hell", originally written in French, and later combined in a single

suffer from it may well benefit from medication.
It's somewhat a different issue than the "designer personality" syndrome we
see nowadays where any overactivity or deviance from some established
standard of behavior is immediately given the "chemical straitjacket" and
put on a schedule of SSRI's, speed derivatives, and other "mood stabilizers.

philosophy. They just want you to understand the philosophy so that you
may apply it to your life and see if it works for you. If your life
doesn't improve and you applied the philosophy correctly then fine
leave. But if it works- and you are getting the results you want in
your life, then who cares about other stuff. Every religion has its
questions. Some people question the authors of the bible. Some question
the existence of Christ. But they don't stop being Christian. Others
invalidate the Buddha as God. But who cares if your a Buddhist.
Obviously there are other reasons why people remain part of a religious
organization such as hope for a better life, benefit of community, self-
improvement, spiritual and mental strength. If the Buddha and Christ
were just men than more power to the religion. You have a greater
chance of reaching their level of divinity, power, intelligence, and
compassion for humankind.
