(Reuters) - A federal judge on Thursday ordered a retired firefighter in Pennsylvania to be detained pending trial, after prosecutors filed charges alleging he hurled a fire extinguisher at police during last week's mob attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Magistrate Judge Henry Perkin for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said the alleged actions of Robert Sanford, 55, of Chester, Pennsylvania, posed a "danger to the community" as well as to "democracy and our legislators."

According to court documents, Sanford was captured on video hurling what appears to be a fire extinguisher at police. In sworn statements, investigators said the object ricocheted multiple times and struck three officers, one of whom was not wearing a helmet.

Prosecutors said in court on Thursday that a search warrant executed at Sanford's home uncovered paraphernalia referencing the far-right Proud Boys group.

Another hypocritical leftist asshole heard from. You had no problem at all when Black Lives Matter rioters were throwing molotov cocktails at police.

Yes, I remember all the posts you started here denouncing their violence.

Was a cop killed by this fire extinguisher? What you produced said that it "ricocheted multiple times", perhaps he wasn`t trying it hit the cops at all. It says one of them "was not wearing a helmet", which doesn`t matter a whole lot unless he was hit in the head, which isn`t said. This guy is held, because he is a "danger to the community", but people who were caught firebombing police vehicles during the BLM riots were released immediately, apparently because such people are not a ""danger to the community". Since you have no critical thinking skills to speak of to apply to information perhaps you should just stop looking at information altogether.

No, he too avoided saying anything unkind re violence by the delicate delinquents on the right and switched the topic to violence on the left.

No, he was trying to play catch with a fire extinguisher! What a maroon!

You are too stupid to realize that after the media downplayed the leftist violence for years, they are now are making a big deal out of this. Being a hypocrite yourself you can`t detect the hypocrisy of the mainstream media.

Why wouldn`t these people think it was ok to be violent when that was the message being put out?

> > > And you're ASSuming "asshole". which actually makes YOU the asshole! I myself was kind of nervous when the BLMs set up a stand outside our local Safeway. I'd been alerted by my grandson that BLM wasn't what it portrayed itself as.

Just pointing out your hypocrisy. The main stream media has told you what to think, what choice do you have?

> > > But, be my guest, and jump to all the kneejerk-rightist conclusions you want to. And continue to tacitly condone the killing of police if it's by a right-winger....

> No, he was trying to play catch with a fire extinguisher! What a maroon!

Yes, he was probably a pool player who planned to bank it several times.

And we can look at the actual video...

https://youtu.be/mPQuJrLTB-M

Certainly he was wrong and should be punished, but it was just a toss, if his intent was to injure he could have thrown it with a lot more force.

But if you had any sense and weren`t a hypocrite what you would find disturbing is the effort being expended to track these folks down when no discernable effort was put out to track down the people who burnt, looted, assaulted, ect during the leftist riots.

If the mainstream media would have told you about this, you wouldn`t have cared one bit, would you hypocrite? Just a few weeks before the Capitol riots...

https://dailycaller.com/2021/01/01/portland-molotov-new-years-riot/

Did you even hear about this in the media? Or this...

https://dailycaller.com/2020/09/24/portland-rioters-molotov-cocktail-police-precinct-fire-video/

Do you suppose the FBI is studying the video and photographs of these events to go to those people houses and arrest them? No, they aren`t, which means the government is using their power only against certain people with certain political viewpoints. And that is a much bigger problem than a thrown fire extinguisher, or even a thrown molotov cocktail. But you are too stupid to realize this.

You're good at presenting one half of these incidents. The other half: trigger-happy, shoot-to-kill cops having target practice on black men. The half you present always ALWAYS takes it out of that context. As for your half, you might justifiably note that the reactions to trigger-happy cops were usually similarly precipitate. Case in point: Ferguson, with the belated revelation that all the hoopla was based on a lying witness.

The other side has already been presented, the media has saturated everyone with it.

> The other half: trigger-happy, shoot-to-kill cops having target practice on black men.

Like where, name a case. For the most part the cases I see them rioting about that I look into seem justifiable. But there is a process, they are investigated, If it is determined a crime has been committed the cop is brought up on charges and faces a trial by his peers. But that isn`t good enough for these modern day lynch mobs, they want to decide guilt without due process, they want to dictate results.

> The half you present always ALWAYS takes it out of that context.

The context here is if you feel the violence is justified when you are ok with it, but when it is groups you don`t like you think they should be persecuted and prosecuted. You don`t mind trial by mob if you think the grievances of the mob are justified. Maybe these Trump mobs feel their grievances and tangible and their violent response is justified. But you only want to see one side punished, you`re a hypocrite. Let me ask you, would you like to see all the video and film of BLM riots scrutinized, and anyone identified as having done any violence or destruction tracked down and punished with long sentences?

> As for your half, you might justifiably note that the reactions to trigger-happy cops were usually similarly precipitate.

What trigger-happy cops? You leftists operate as if your false narratives are the reality.

>Case in point: Ferguson, with the belated revelation that all the hoopla was based on a lying witness.

Case in point, when almost all these cases go to court the cops are exonerated because the actual evidence shows they did nothing wrong.
