On July the 21 two years ago a city by
the name of Maharishi Vedic City was incorporated in Iowa. Vedic? Iowa!?
Living
as I do in a state like Alabama I am the last person to give in to state
stereotypes, but isn't this the sort of thing you would expect in...
oh I don't know... California or Colorado?

Vedic comes from the Sanskrit word
Veda, which means knowledge. And the
town is supposed to be built on the principles
of Vedic architecture, health care, agriculture, education &
administration.

You can see their web page below:

The first thing that popped into my mind
was the city of Antelope Colorado that the Bogwan Ragnese (SP?) and his
followers
tried to take over lo these many years ago.

This however does not seem to be all
that cultish, at least as far as I can tell.
Though I have to say that I find it a bit
unfair of myself to think of this as possible cultish while not thinking
the same thing
of such cities as say Salt Lake City or oh...
I don't know, Branson or Vatican City?

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has
ever been to this city?
