I had on my computer installed Norton Antivirus 2003 Pro. which recently
expired
I don't want to renew it but when I remove it from the Add/Remove in the
Contr.Panel it removes it, but after I can not connect any more to the
internet (using cable
connections), I have to go back with System Restore which will install it
again and then
the connection is fine. I wonder what is the reason that this is happening.
Any suggestions?
My OS is Wind XP Home

Uninstall Norton, reboot, then open a command prompt window, and type the
following then press enter.

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

This should rebuild the TCP/IP stack in windowsXP, and hopefully will
correct the problem. The reason it is happening is because Norton's
uninstaller is probably corrupting your TCP/IP settings.

that invokes the very same uninstaller routine that the "add/remove
programs" list does, which he already used. The uninstaller accompanies the
program. Both add/remove and the uninstall link in the programs menu do the
same thing because they initiate the very same uninstall process. The
problem is Norton's uninstaller is often crap. Invoking it by shortcut link
doesn't change that fact.

Try http://www.digitalminds.net/index.pl/downloads for a tool that worked
for me to restore network connection.
