do I have spyware (and how to get rid of it)?

I was recently given a used computer I think that it has some spyware
running. I say this because when I type into a form in IE it flickers
like it is losing focus (and sometimes it does because I have to re-
click on the browser to continue typing). Does this sound like
spyware?

If so, can anyone recommend a good freeware program to get rid of it?

I have brought and have been given used computers. I always wipe the machine
out and lay down the O/S fresh before anything else. You don't know what's
on the machine or how it was used and no telling what's on the machine.

ther are some good anit spyware programs you can download free and run
that is the best protection, also need to run an anti-virus program.

spybot search and destroy
spyware blaster
