my 3 1/4 floppy drive quit working, this is really strange cause it just
quit for no reason at all, I thought maybe my drive went poof but I put
in a new one and it still wont work, it says drive A is not ready, I
dont understand this nas I havent changed any settings or anything, it
just quit, I tried playin around in my BIOS but nothing seems to fix it,
I made sure all my connectors are firmly plugged in but I cant seem to
figure out why it wont work, please help.

Try a new cable?
Can you access it in DOS?

*just a suggestion my friend: if the BIOS is able to detect your floppy
drive then power might be the question here. Perhaps the power cable from
your power supply to your floppy is either loose, faulty, or defective in
some way. I said that because you tried putting in a new drive in place
with no luck. Try this one......

I wouldn't mess around with BIOS if it is already recognizing it to begin
with. Update the drivers through device manager with windows online library
updates.

I have some tips here maybe you missed a cmos setting. Take the other
hints also other folks have posted. If indeed the onboard floppy drive
controller has gone bad its an easy fix with a controller cards with
everything else disable on it excpept the floppy. dont worry too much
there is a fix that wont cost too much.

It is probably the power cable. Try using the other power cable from
your power supply (most power supplies come with 2 floppy power
cables). Better yet, make sure the current cable is plugged in
nicely. This solved my problem.

The controller on the MB may have croaked. It happens and can happen
without any kind of warning. If that happens there are only 2 fixes. First
one
get a new motherboard or second one disable the floppy drives in the BIOS
and installed a card with a floppy controller on it, into one of the
available
slots.

It happens. Sometimes on PCI boards one of the IDE controllers goes bad,
most often the secondary for whatever reason from my experience. Not too
much of a problem tho if you only have a single HDD and a single cdrom
drive

Hi there,

I can guess the following problems may you have ... try them ..

- your motherboard FDD controller may be damaged ... / not working
- your FDD Data Cable may not working ...
- check the pin1 Setting ...
- Check the FDD Power cable ...

Hope this will help you to solve your problem,

Best of Luck,

Regards,
