I would like to copy my contact list (#1 priority), "recents" (#2
priority), and apps (keeping visual order if possible) to a new phone
(also a Samsung Galaxy J2.

What is available to do that?

Reason: the sound volume on incoming calls has drastically dropped
and nothing has helped to restore it.
Some idiot* said that replacing the speaker would fix it (never mind
that sound volume in all other cases has NOT CHANGED).

((* Samsung phone service where walk-in service is available -
Seattle WA))

The following posting contains general suggestions,
as finding postings about a J2 is going to be tougher.

Have you tried approaches like this ?

"Verify if sounds weren't disabled

The purpose of doing this method is to check if the audio settings
are all set to its default settings. Because if not, that would be
the reason your Galaxy A3 does have a weak sound. Try to check the
settings and make sure all of it are enabled.

From home, tap Apps > Settings > Accessibility.

Tap Hearing and make necessary corrections to the following:

Turn off all sounds: Sounds made by the phone during taps,
selections, notifications, are muted.

Hearing aids: Automatically adjusts to attempt to improve the sound
quality for use with hearing aids.

Left/right sound balance: Adjust the sound sent to the left and right
when using earphones.

Mono audio: Enable or disable the compression of stereo audio into a
single mono audio stream for use with a single earphone.

*******

Boot your phone in Safe mode

... try to run your phone in safe mode to temporarily disable all
third-party apps. If the audio problem resolved while in this mode,
then, it is clear that one or some of the third-party apps triggered it.

Does the phone have Wifi ? Or some other modality ?

They have an App for such a transfer.

We rely on user reviews to get a description
of what gets transferred...

* Volume: ringtone, media, notifications, system *all maxed
* Sound mode : sound *choices sound, vibrate, mute **sound chosen
* Use Volume keys for media: set off so i cannot mess that up
* Do not disturb: set off *eg: all calls are not muted
* System: touch sounds=on; screen lock sounds=off; chargig sound=off;
dialing keypad tones=off; keyboard sound=on; sound quality and effects:
tried equalizer custom +10db to no avail, heard no difference.
