I have the paid version of MBAM.
Is there a setting anywhere to have it download by itself the new
updates without my having to do it?

auto-update, but, as you typed, you have the paid version!
Have you checked the settings to see if you need to turn on auto-update
somewhere!

1. Download and install program update if available
2. Notify me when a program update is ready for installation.
Neither of these does what I'm assuming they should do.
It is a brand new download of the latest MBAM I'm using. I did
uninstall and reinstall it thinking it might be a buggy install. Still
won't auto download or even notify me of an update.
I'm going to quit worrying about it and just do it manually. And, yes,
it does seem to be scanning properly. It caught two minor situations.
