Driver needed for Canon LBP 800 printer under Windows7 64bit

i have recently upgraded my laptop to OS Windows7 64bit-Version, an
still have an old laser printer from Canon, model LBP 800.
Unfortunately seemingly Canon do not plan to write a driver for Win7
for this old printer (from 1999).
Do you know what to do? There are drivers for LBP800 for OS WinXP an
WinME/2000. But they dont work under Win7, not even with compatibility
mode.
Are there maybe drivers for other Canon printers, who could work for
LBP800 under Win7 too ? Should i ask Canon support in this case ?
Also installing driver from the software CD of the printer doesnt
work, as the installer expects no 64bit-system.
When i want to install the new printer with Win7, in the wizard
process Windows cant update the model list for Canon. It cant connect
to the WindowsUpdate-Server. So only newer LBP models are available,
but i cant print the test page, after being installed on of these
newer models.
For any hint what to do i would be grateful !

I think, the so called XP-Mode for Win7 Pro could be a solution for my
problem. Compare http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx
for details. Do you agree that this could be useful to me ?

danke euch erst mal für eure Antworten bzw. Einschätzung.
Zusammenfassend kann ich nun sagen, dass es wohl lediglich die
Möglichkeit gibt, irgendwie die XP-Umgebung im Win7 64bit-
Betriebssystem zu simulieren um meinen LBP-800 weiter betreiben zu
können.
Da bin ich im Netz auf den sog. XP-Mode für Win7 64bit gestoßen, der
als Download auf der Microsoft-Site ab der Win7 Pro-Version verfügbar
ist. Guckt mal hier zur Info falls nicht schon bekannt:

Seht ihr Chancen, dass ich damit den Drucker noch zum Laufen bringe ?

Wenn ja wie ist dann vorzugehen ? -ich nehme an, ich lade mir den
aktuellsten Treiber für den LBP800 von Canon herunter (bis XP gabs
einen), und installiere den im XP-Mode. Gibts Gegenvorschläge ? Oder
sollte ich vielleicht doch ganz normal über den "Drucker hinzufügen"-
Dialog in Windows beginnen ?

Sell the canon on ebay (vintage section)
and put the bucks on a W7 compatible plinter.

versuch mal diesen Treiber unter Win7. Ist einer für win vista, aber die
funktionieren teilweise auch unter windows 7, ist ja das gleiche,
zumindest größtenteils.
