other PRIMARY IDE CHANNEL as normally the SECONDARY IDE is for the
optical drives and being either primary or secondary wouldn't matter
on that second channel where the the optical drives are.
Anyway, what I would suggest is to try a new set of IDE cables and to
disconnect the secondary drive first to see and make sure that W98
recogmizes the primary drive and works OK... then I would connect the
seconday drive very obvious as SLAVE. Make sure the jumpers are set
properly on each corresponding drive as MASTER and SLAVE.
If ALL else fails, then try NEW optical drives... or reinstall the OS
from scratch as that usually clears up most WINDOWS issues.
