Hi,

I am having problem with my computer. My computer does not recognise
CD-ROMs, both of them. The following message appears:-

Secondary Slave Drive - ATAPI incompatible

CD-ROM Driver not ready.

I am using Win98SE.

Have you added any extra harddrives to your system?
This may have the requirement of you adjusting your jumper settings for
*it*, and anything else attached to your primary & secondary controller
interfaces.

Hmmm, if BOTH optical drives are in the same EIDE channel, then it
wouldn't matter if any other HDD's have been added or removed from any
other PRIMARY IDE CHANNEL as normally the SECONDARY IDE is for the
optical drives and being either primary or secondary wouldn't matter
on that second channel where the the optical drives are.

Anyway, what I would suggest is to try a new set of IDE cables and to
disconnect the secondary drive first to see and make sure that W98
recogmizes the primary drive and works OK... then I would connect the
seconday drive very obvious as SLAVE. Make sure the jumpers are set
properly on each corresponding drive as MASTER and SLAVE.

If ALL else fails, then try NEW optical drives... or reinstall the OS
from scratch as that usually clears up most WINDOWS issues.

Good Luck To Ya!
