I have huge problems in getting my Adaptec AFW-2100 FireWire adapter to work
in my Dell Dimension 4700.
Unfortunately I can't manage Dell support to actually support me with a
driver.
The driver I currently use is the Windows XP home edition built in IEEE
driver.
Does anyone have a better driver for this adapter? I would sincerly
appreciate it...
/Martin

Googled for a bit, and there doesn`t appear to be any other driver.

Of course, if you have SP2, you've been mooked anyway most likely.
Check here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885222/en-us
I've been told that this is/was not available via windows update, so go
manually. :)
In theory, you could snag a copy of the Windows 2003 drivers which I would
guess to be newer.
Can you verify the part number by looking at the chip? The -04 had lotsa
gotchas, the -05 a little less, the -06 is not bad.
Differences in -05 and -06: http://www.agere.com/entnet/docs/AP02066-1.pdf
Finding a driver other than the built-in is going to be difficult...why
write one if one's built in? You might search around agere.com if you're
feeling lucky. :)
Good Luck
