Is cost any object? Are you on a network? Will you ever be? Need more
input.

I use (or have used) the following scanners on my Win2K system,
without any problems at all:

NOD32 from www.nod32.com or www.nod.com.au and download a 25 day free
trial, to see if you like it. (my favorite).

ETrust EZ Antivirus from http://www1.my-etrust.com/ and download 60
days free trial. (second choice).

or

http://cws.internet.com/virus-inoculate.html for the free
InnoculateIT. This scanner was previously (and still is) free, however
the company are no longer supporting scan engine updates (it is now
ETrust EZ A/V - for which you pay), but will continue to provide virus
definition updates.(still a good A/V scanner).

You can download the latest virus definition updates for InnoculateIT
at
ftp://ftp.ca.com/pub/ipe/10.2/

@news2.aus1.giganews.com:

I am a cheapskate ;) but wouldn't mind a reasonable charge (I have been
updating McAfee on my old machine for some time. I was quite happy with
McAfee, which bailed me out of several massive SirCam attacks. Don't know
how satisfactory it is for Win2K.

My machine is essentially stand-alone. However, I am networked to my old
machine so I can suck stuff over in the next few weeks, and I am connected
to my wife's machine as well (she has a beter printer. And of course, my
cable modem connection.

Thanks,

Leonard

My favorites...

- eTrust EZ Antivirus from Computer Associates ($19.00, $9.95/yr thereafter)
at http://www.my-etrust.com (has 60-day trial offer)

- AVG (free) at http://www.grisoft.com

Both good. Both will run on servers.

I have McAfee v6 sitting on my shelf, unused.

I came across AVG last night and it looked interesting so I installed
it. Thank's for the confirmation.

Anyone else had experience with AVG?
