AVG7: avgamsvr.exe + avgupsvc.exe ALWAYS running no matter what.

I have just about everything disabled in AVG7, so one might expect that
there would be nothing running. I *only* do manual updates + manual scans
with it.

But these two processes are always there:

avgamsvr.exe
avgupsvc.exe

*My system is noticeably slower while they live.* So I kill the suckers.
But they come back every time I run AVG manually.

Questions:

1. Do I have to have to create a script to kill these things after I run
AVG, or did I (somehow) miss a configuration, or perhaps a hidden registry
hack to keep these things from coming up (and staying there) when I run AVG?

2. Is it "normal" for these two processes to hit my system so
noticeably. The task manager doesn't show a lot of accumulated system time,
but I've known other processes to slip in and out of task manager detection
before, so I am not sure.

3. Is #2 related to some kind of sword fighting between AVG7 and my
always running (intentionally) NAV2003 auto-protect?

Thanks!
