Now taht InoculateIT PE is going away on May 15th, I'm looking for a new virus
scanner. I don't want to pay too much either. How good is eTrust EZ Antivirus in
comparison to other scanners? Does it detect 100% of those viruses in Win2K? I
don't think i saw eTrust on virusbtn.com on that 100% list. Anyway, experiences?
comments? Thanks

That's not quite correct. Check the November 2001 tests on NT platform.

oh... yeh yeh its on there. but since i use Win2k, should i even bother with EZ
Trust? i mean InoculateIT PE has been really good for me, and so i would assume
the sae with eTrust EZ Antivirus. Its just that i don't see it even tested on:

http://www.virusbtn.com/100/vb100sum.html

I just wanted some places that would say whther or not it really was good or not
on the Win2K platform.

Ok...now I understand what you want. Go here:
http://www.av-test.org/online/sites/os03.php3?js=1&test=2001-11&p=1

This was a recent test last October that compares several AV products, ezAV
being one. When you get down to zoo type malware, its on-demand scanning
leaves a lot to be desired as it relates to script viruses, backdoors and
trojans. However, there are lots of trade-offs you have to consider when
looking at data like this. An obvious trade-off to consider will be impact
on resources.

Not "just" like it. The two are different products. Check the site again. Or
are you saying it's like InoculateIT PE? Yeah, evolved from IPE.

I used InoculateIT PE since it was introduced, as soon as EZ AV was launched
I bought it as I had been very please with InoculateIT PE. However, on my
w2k system, I noticed that some programs (not all) were a lot slower after
installing EZ AV.

I put this down to the way it scans files on open/close ??

After reading several reviews I decided to try NOD32 and I'm very pleased
with it. It doesn't slow my system down at all.

I rather like it........but use 'safe hex' and common sense as well.
And as I only had to pay $6 as an existing IPE user, the price was
right. But I would test a few of the more expensive ones out......NOD
seems to get good reviews in here. Forget Norton and McAfee!!

yeah.. i meant the latter. I think i'm gonna give EZ AV a go and see how i like
it. i'm pretty sure i'll be happy with it for the price i'm paying. i don't
wanna spend too much since i'm on a tight budget. that being a really important
reason, this product seems to have really good price and performace
