Doc: Please Help with a virus never I've heard of

[Brooklyn Workstation]

A customer here in Brooklyn at our walk in center is having problems with
what I think is a boot sector virus. She says after using the shareware
version of your dos virus cleaner she got a report of an LIXI (???) virus
that could not be removed. Could you point us to a text file with step by
step instructions for removing this bad baby? (Have you heard of this one?
Its not on our recent updated virus lists for Norton 3.1 or 95 software
virus lists.)

The help you dispence is much appreciated, and a pox on ye virii writers. I
will bring a bag lunch to the first hacker/programmer electrocution.

LIXI is the name some other product uses for Anticmos; Microsoft AV, I
think. There isn't a shareware version of Dr Solomon, but there is a
downloadable evaluation copy.

If you want, you could visit Christopher Pile (author/distributor of the
Smeg viruses) in prison, where he is currently serving an 18 month
sentence. He'd probably appreciate a bag lunch, it would cheer him up no
end.

Go to an S&S files area (see sig below) and download the evaluation
copy of Findvirus. Cold-boot from a clean Dos disk, and run
FINDVIRU C: /REPAIR and after a short time, you're clean. Then check
all your floppies. Various other antivirus products would be able to
do the job for you, I should think.
