I am a high school teacher and am considering purchasing a palm based pda.
I have seen various software for record keeping, lesson planning etc.
available for palm os pdas.

I would be interested in hearing of any experiences from teachers using one
of these pdas.

Cheers

Scott McNamara

I am a college instructor and I basically use my Palm M505 for notes (kept
in Docs To Go). I also use the Docs To Go, (Sheets To Go) spreadsheet for
my attendance roles. At the end of the semester, all I do is pretty it up a
bit in Excel and turn them in to my registrars office. I've also got a
print util to print to IR printers, works great. Of course I';ve also got
games for my own enjoyment.

There is a Palm app which I think is mainly built for k-12 and it's called
Teachers P.E.T. It keep Attendance roles, grades, assignments, etc. Just
buy it (I recommend the M505 color) and you'll see that uses for it will
come up in no time at all.

There was a quite extensive article in the most recent Palm User
magazine, IIRC. That might be a good place to look!

Regards,

Howard.

I'm a teacher with a Palm Pilot I use for the calendar and ToDo functions.
I do my grades, however, on a laptop with a software package provided by the
District. And our attendance is online to a central district site. Doing
the grades electronically is a real bonus because I can put in a grade for a
student while he/she watches and do an instant printout so the students
always know where they stand with late projects. (That ability required my
investing $110 of personal $$ in a small HP printer to keep on my room desk,
but the convenience has been more than worth the small investment.) I don't
know what sort of palm you're intending to purchase but I don't think it
would have the functionality OR the readability of screen that I'd want to
do grades.
