Does the Sony Clie T615 come with a flip cover to protect the screen?
If so, what material is it? Plastic? or what?

I'm using a Palm Glove zippered neoprene case on my current Palm IIIx.

Is there a case similar to this style for the 615?

It uses a leather cover that attaches to the back of the case. I just got a
new case from E&B company www.ebcases.com that slips over the entire case,
has a flip cover that closes using a couple of embeded magnets and has a
zipper on the bottom that lets you put it in it's sync cradle without taking
the whole thing off. Very classy looking too.

I realize some people think the 615 cover is cheap, but a bit more thought
and certainly experience show it to be a brilliantly elegant design. It
protects the screen very well while not adding to the thickness of this
wonderfully thin PDA. The attachment to the metal back is secure. Actually,
it looks very good, too.

As part of an accessory package from SonyStyle, I received a leather
total-wrap-around cover. It's "filed" for now. It's too fussy, and the
leather tab that holds the cover secure to the back is simply a pain to use.

My experience in another life with cameras may be instructive. One used to
spend several hundred dollars on a fabulous Nikon or Canon camera, so it was
very natural to purchase an "ever-ready" camera case that, in fact, became
quickly recognized as the "never-ready" case it was because removing it
resulted in so many lost shots. Not quite the same with the Clie, of course,
but the point is that, like a Nikon or Canon, the Clie is a tool. It's meant
to be used, even abused (to a point), and it's bound to pick up some scruffs
and scrapes. So be it. It's a tool. It's to be used. By real people. In real
life. Don't try to insulate it from reality. Besides, it's too much trouble.

My Clie T615C came w/ a stiched leather flip cover. Does the job but not
the best idea. It attaches to the back side of the machine and this has
come loose a few times. The cover though is adequate for protecting the
screen for the most part.

Yes, leather-type reinforced flip cover.
