I would like to have my palm e-mail account the same as my home (earthlink).
Anyway to do this.
Also, I am currently a Palm Vx user and really like this machine. How does
the i500 measure?

Otherwise the phone is deligthful ... good form factor, readable
screen, reasonable battery life. Compares well to the Palm V (and an
IPAQ) that I used to use. Uses PalmOS 4.1, with no update planned.
A potential issue with all cell/pda combos: If they have no
speakerphone (like the i500 doesn't), be aware that you'll need a
headset if you want to access your calendar to make an appointment
while talking with the person on the phone. (One can use the pda and
phone functions at the same time ... but one can't see/interact with
the screen and hold it up to one's cheek at the same time.)
Third-party email programs work fine on the i500 (Eudora comes to
mind). So, getting your earthlink mail won't be a problem.
Some folks are trying to hold out for the i505 or i550 ... rumored to
have OS5 and a SD slot (and that damm SMS problem should be fixed).
Although, no ETA for that little gem. So, ya' takes ya' chances.
Cheers.
Is SMS where people send text messages to each other? If it is, I don't
really need it.

This is an excellent piece of advice. I can see using calander or address
book while talking would be very useful.

Can you explain how this works in more detail? I currently get to my
earthlink messages by my "direct" connection or the web site. Would I
simply put in my ISP providers information (e.g. pop.earthlink.net) into my
phone's e-mail client and I would hook up?
I would also like to get to my work mail, but it is behind a firewall and
would need a VPN connection. The Window XP VPN works. Is this something I
could do with a Palm?

What is an SD slot?
Thanks so much for the reply.

Right. Text messaging. SMS = Short Message Service.

Yes. Pop.earthlink.net along with your earthlink userid/password under
the POP server information. You'll have to enter Sprint's SMTP
server, along with your Sprint Mail userid/password, in order to send
mail. (Getting your Sprint Mail password can be a little complicated.
I described the process in a posting in alt.cellular.sprintpcs a while
back. It should be in Goggle's newgroups archives.)

Sure. Mergic VPN is the software most folks recommend, and it works
on the i500.

Secure Digital ... memory/storage expansion, basically.
Cheers.
