Hi,

Apologies if this has already been covered on the group. I'm looking for a
DB system for Palm V (something similar to Handbase/Mobile DB). Does anyone
know of a freeware product.

TIA.

Pilot-DB, available from http://pilot-db.sourceforge.net.

Pilot-DB is a flat-file DBMS for PalmOS devices, available as free software
under the GNU Public Liscense. It comes with Plug-ins which allow it to
handle JFile3 and Mobile-DB databases as well as it's own native format. It
is _not_ relational (IE, you can't have a database refer to fields in
another database) but is quite capable outside of that. The latest version
includes the beginnings of scripting capability.

There is also a beta Windows program to manipulate Pilot-DB databases,
available from www.jakewalk.de. This site also offers pdaConvertwer, a
Windows tool for creating documents in Plucker, Palm "doc", or zText foramt.

Plucker is an offline HTML reader for Palm devices, also available as free
sofware under the GPL. You can find it at www.plkr.org.

zText is a plain ASCII text file, similar to a Palm "doc" file, but using
much better compression. zText is used by WeaselReader, a Palm document
reader that also handles standard "doc" files. WeaselReader is also
available as free software under the GPL, from
http://gutenpalm.sourceforge.net.
