I've never used a Palm PC but have been using a Windows CE handheld PC for about a year. I'm considering
switching to a Palm PC and have some question concerning available software that's important to me.

1. What's the best newsgroup reader program for the PALM OS?
2. I greatly enjoy reading e-text's. Is there a good reader program for .txt files?
3. For those of you who use Bible software, what's considered the best one for the PALM OS? (must have
search features)
4. With the PALM version of Avantgo can you do a "modem sync" like you can with the WinCE version?
5. I really make use of Microsoft Pocket Streets. Is there a comparable program for the PALM OS?

I realize that I'll need a good deal of memory and so I'm leaning toward the Palm IIIx. I plan on purchasing the
modem for it. I really wish that the Synapse Pager Card was available for the IIIx. Anyword on that?

Thanks for anyone's help!

Bruce

There's the one thing I have yet to find for the Palm. An offline newsgroup
reader. (There are online ones, but you need the modem for that)

Yes. AportisDoc is cool, but you have to check out iSilo. If you've ever
used bREADY on the PalmPC, it's like that only faster, and way easier to
create documents for it. (FWIW I've got a few Catholic docs I've created if
you're interested)

Servant Software - extremely easy to use (I had Laridian's for the PalmPC.
Laridian is now working in conjunction with Servant Software) Has the search
features.

Yes. (Though I don't have a modem, so I say yes not from experience but from
the description)

There is, but I'm not a user of it. Go to PalmGear, PalmCentral, and
PilotZone to see the amazing plethora of software!

Remember you'll get five times as much onto each Meg on a Palm compared to a
PalmPC. (I'm not a pager card user, so I don't know about that)

I made the switch and I will never go back. I miss the nice color, but I had
no idea how much more I would appreciate the speed and the size of the Palm.
There's no comparison. Palm rules. I stronly encourage you to make the
switch. (I own a PalmVx, I used to own a Cassiopeia E100).
