Hi Movie fans,
Just a quick note before the year is out to say that we have just uploaded
the brand new set of the Internet Movie Database files to www.memoware.com
in TomeRaider format (www.tomeraider.com). These files are available for
Palm OS, Pocket PC, Psion, Symbian, Smart-Phone and Windows versions of
TomeRaider.
This movie guide is taken from the Internet Movie Database found at
www.imdb.com, the world's premier Movie information service, with up-to-date
information on tens of thousands of films.
Due to the enormity of the IMDB it is not possible to have every film listed
in the TomeRaider version, so we have made a number of different cuts of the
database to suit all needs. These range from a small 800k file which is
ideal for quick checks on whether a film is worth watching to a 17 megabyte
file with very detailed information on about 30,000 movies.
The fastest way to get the files is to simply visit http://www.memoware.com
and do a search for "IMDB"
Happy New Year,
Proporta
We just do the TomeRaider versions so I dont know about any other formats:-)
To be honest, I seriously doubt that Palm Doc and these other formats could
handle 15 meg plus file, and especially not at the speed TomeRaider does
it... so it might not be practicaly possible.
I cant see any reason why the good folks at IMDB wouldnt allow a handheld
version in one of these other formats so maybe somone should have a go:-)
Best Wishes
Mat

Other versions of the IMDb are available for a variety of mobile devices
at:
http://www.magma.ca/~sheppard/IMDb/
This includes ebooks for the Newton and Palm, a PQA/WCA for the Palm and
a web server interface to the LIVE IMDb for access to all the movies and
people from any web enabled mobile device and a set of HTML archive
files for Psions and PocketPCs.
Nice to have choices although I wonder why the IMDb themselves don't
support mobile devices better.
