I just recently purchased a Palm III organizer. I also have in my
possession an old Intel 144/144E external 14.4 modem. Can someone either
tell if I can use this modem with my new Palm III or point me in the
direction of a web page that would tell me how to do so. Also information
on how to hook up to my ISP <Netcom> to download mail, etc., while away
from home. As I don't travel at all on business, I see it as a waste to pay
good money for a new modem if this old one will do the job for me for the
few times a year I'm out of town.

Thank you

You can pushes a modem cable that will connect to your palm pilot. It then
connects directly to your modem. You Might want to get TG Postman to check
your email while your out. I don't know you ISP so I'm not sure if it will
work or not.

You can also check this site out. It's a nice piece of software and there
is also a like page to the TG postman.
It's http://members.xoom.com/PalmRedir

Enjoy

You can buy a modem cable. It connects your PalmPilot to and external
modem. I have just recently purchased one and it works great with my
USR Robotics 28.8 external modem.

Have just finished researching the use of external modem w/ pilot.

Check follow URL for info about adapter. If you have access to 9 and 25
pin D connector and soldering skills this adapter will allow you to use
you portable hotsync cable. This is the same as the modem cable except
for the signals go to different pins. You could use your cradle too.

Download Top Gun (free) and easily exchange mail between my work address
and personal address.

Wanted to see if it is worth using pilot to get email. Used ac powered
Cardinal 14.4 Fax/Data modem for test. Worked well! Considering better
Email program that has plugins for attached files. Top Gun does not
allow viewing of attached files.

Check out MultiMail Pro 2--there are plugins for .TXT, .PRC, .PDB, and
Quicksheet and hooks for others to write additional attachments...
